How to you haul your gas to the dock? I've been tempted to buy a bulk tank and put behind the boat house.

But I guess I will resort to filling up all the jugs not worry about it.

I use 5 and or 6 gallon cans, thought about a bigger one but most of the time I am doing this alone and would hate to have it slip out of my hands and roll into the lake. I have several steps to go down. If you haul the plastic cans in a truck with a bed liner make sure to pull them out and put on the ground.

I want to buy a tank on wheels but new ones are prohibitive. The auction yard on 280 south of Sylacauga says they often have them so I will check with them. If I can find one that has less than a 5' width I will be able to back it onto my pier to refuel.

I've seen the pallet sized plastic chemical containers used for gas. I think some are safe for gas. I'm talking about the big plastic containers with heavy wire cages built around them. Used ones sell for about $50 or so and are light enough to load and unload (empty) from a pickup. You'll have to gravity feed from the tank.

Best methond of transfer is the super siphon!! Someone posted on here about them a few years ago. I bought two. Greatest little gadget ever. Several of my neighbors have bought them now too. Drains a 5 gallon tank in about 2 minutes. Just have to learn how to wiggle it to get it started.

Below is just one link of hundreds to purchase it. You can get 2 for $22 including shipping if you shop a little.

I have noticed that a lot of the non-branded stations(jet-pep,Murphy oil,Raceway,Racetrak) and even some that still look branded but are not anymore have ethanol blended fuels 10% I think. Wondering how the marine community of engines will react.

Sounds like a good question for Cat Boat?

One of the issues I had to deal with last year was a fuel line on my pontoon "melted" from the inside and the tar like substance drained into the tank. Several who saw it thinks it might have been from the 10% or greater blend.

You might want to be careful about putting a fuel tank on your property (not talking about the 5-6 gallon plastic cans). Your homeowners insurance will have a fit if they find out that you have a storage tank (above ground or below).

interesting - I would keep this tank outside - seems safer than the 3 5 gallon cans i keep in the garage.

I guess they did Mav. I bought mine two years ago. I didn't even realize you could get them in stores. I just read about them here and decided to try them. Glad I did. The $20 didn't break me and they have been worth much more in convienience.
