Jim Webb, early dropee on the Dem side is considering a run as an Independent......would be payback karma for how Bill got elected.....

I think he is a good man - but he's not going to make it as an Independent either.  Funny how some people just can't accept that it is not their time to lead.  If half of the Republican candidates took a hard look and dropped out now, it would be a good thing.  Bernie Sanders and Martin O'Malley might as well give up now too.

Oh, Lordy...I HOPE you're right! It certainly seems logical though. I've heard that a lot of Democrats are not happy that their primary is simply a coronation for Hillary and are concerned about scandalous behavor.

I think people prefer to feel like they have a choice of candidates that bring different skills and perspectives to the table for consideration.  I cannot imagine why there are no Democrats that feel that Hilary is beatable.  It's imconprehensible.  The Clintons, both Hilary and Bill, are known for playing fast and loose with the truth and for saying whatever they think people want to hear.  By the end of Bill Clinton's term, people were just ready to be done with the Clintons, between his sex scandal and her grabbing everything she could claiming it was personal gifts and not official gifts.  Leopards don't change their spots.

Hear, Hear, Talullahhound you are absolutely correct! I think any prominent democrat that would have considered running knew that 2016 was Hillary's "turn" and that she would have the firm backing of the DNC...as is evidenced in the recent complaints of Bernie Sanders. What a shame! No wonder so many people are put-out with career politicians!

Not sure Webb is going to attract many Hillary voters. He may siphon some Democrats that actually believe in a strong national defense but they seem to be few and far between these days. Will be interesting to see if he does but I am skeptical he will.

The GOP better be careful what they wish for.  I like Webb and suspect a lot of reasonable Republicans do too.  If Trump or Cruz is the GOP choice a Webb run would be good news for the democrats, not the GOP,  because he would get a some of the votes of the Bush, Kasich, Rubio, Christy supporters.  If The GOP comes to its senses and nominates Bush, Kasich, Rubio or Christy, a Webb run would be much less likely but even if it happened the voters taken from each party would be minimal and likely a wash.  If Hillary selects Tim Caine as her veep you can forget about any Webb run regardless of the GOP's selection, and if the GOP nominates Trump (and maybe even Cruz) then look for a possible GOP establishment candidate from the middle...maybe even a Webb/Graham or Graham/Webb run from the center.  At a minimum, a Trump or Cruz run will garner very little support from the reasonable center and is more likely to draw outright hostility if not an independent candidate.
