Just a reminder the snakes are on the move with the warmer weather. I killed a 3 ft Cotton Mouth by my sea wall Saturday. Right after I nearly stepped on it.

The snake has as much right to be there as any creature ,that`s there natural habitat. You are the violator.

I agree! They are out right now. We saw a 3 1/2 foot snake (I think it was a water snake......this is what I am telling myself) swimming in the water at the Stillwaters seawall. It climbed into the grey rocks that are at the base of the retaining wall. Really FREAKED me out. It scared my kids too!! We let the owners of Harbor Point know about it and they said they would keep an eye out for it. It was right where Villas on the Harbor and Harbor Point meet.

Snakes are one of those things that I know are at the lake, but that is different from seeing them.

Post a pic; dollars to donuts it was nothing more than a water snake.

Much as I would like to post a picture I am in Birmingham and it is in Dadeville. I do know my snakes and after I killed it and examined it there is no doubt it was cotton mouth.

Another option is to place moth balls near the snake hole or get a product called snake away that does the same thing. Snakes hate the smell of moth balls

If you really "know your snakes" then you would not have to "examine" one to know what it was; identifying cottonmouths takes a second, and can be done from fairly far away.

Nope, just what I thought-- you're one of those "It was near the water and/or it was black, it's a cottonmouth!" morons.

They also hate the smell of gunpowder.

And the business side of an ax. Since I am at the top of the food chain I dont care, Ill decide which ones stay and wich ones go! Im into nature and all but when God made um I dont think even he liked um. Read the good book. I do understand both sides of the issue., but dont hate me for being a disliker of the slithery beast.

There was a snake in a tree. It did something bad, so God punished it by taking away its legs.

HUH?? Punished the snake by taking away something it didn't have? Isn't that like punishing a man by taking away his third eye, or rewarding a bird by giving it wings?

Think about it: it was NOT a snake that tempted Eve! It was a lizard. Yet, people take it out on snakes. How logical... in Moron-World.

P.S.-- It was neither one; it was Satan in disguise. And yet, it was the animal that is blamed. More "logic."

None of that is relevant when a snake is slithering around in your yard or around your pier.
Actually none of it is relevant period!
