Is the area around "The Rock" a now wake zone, and if not whay not?
I don't notice any bouys or hazzard, but there should be something there. And just HOW do you "tie up" boats together without one getting damaged? I see all those HUGE boats all tied up together, and no one seems to worry about the wakes from the other boates banging the boats together. We tied up for the first time (and probably the last) this past weeeknd. The middle boat (a first time in the water, new boat) got nicked twice by our tower. It is fixable, but there has GOT to be a better way. Is there a trick? We had plenty of bumpers, 5 between each boat.
But the second or third wake that came through did it for us. We took our beer to the house!
Any suggestions?

You really need to do a good job of tying in addition to placing plenty of bouys. Where many people make a mistake is that they leave alot of room between the boats thinking that the additional space will make them less likely to hit one another. Truly you are much better off to tie the boats together very closesly. If the shape of the boats permit it, tie them where the boats are squeezed against the bumpers. When you leave too much space between the boats, wakes cause the boats to rock in such a way to miss the bumpers and hit one another instead. Tying the boats tightly together causes the boats to move together much better and keeps the bumpers where they should be--between the boats. Also, dont tie up right in the middle of the channel. The wake is much worse there. Get over in the little cove to the left of "The Rock". Tying up with other boats is great when you do it correctly, but could ruin your day and your summer if you dont tie properly or if you encounter an extrememly large wake. Two summers ago I saw a Nautique have its windshield shattered while tied up in a line of boats.

Thanks for the info,... makes sence. We were to the left of the Rock,... but we also had a little extra play between the boats. I will surely remember this IF we every try that agian. I guess we were trying to much at one time. The kids wanted to jump, (that freaked me out enough) and then when our boat bite a chunk out of our friends new boat,.... it was time to head home. :(

I agree. We used to have a SeaRay Sundancer (worst boat I have ever owned) and tied up at the rock. Make sure you tie the back TIGHT (with a bumper of course) first and then tie the rest of the boat and get them all tight, but the most important thing is to start in the back. Also, try to tie next to a boat with a similar size to yours. Finally and the last bit of good info, if you have a fiberglass boat, don't tie with a pontoon - - if the metal even rubs on your gelcoat, you will be the proud owner of a nice new scratch. Good luck and enjoy your time at the Rock. (Oh, no its not a posted no wake area. Most people are polite and will idle through there, but some won't.)
