Since we have recently introduced mosquitos and bats into the foray, rank order your concerns/fears on the Lake. List the greatest concern first and then in decending order.

A. Snakes

B. Alligators

C. Go-Fast Boats

D. Biting/stinging Bugs

E. Bats

F. Crowded (Human Population)

My Response: D, A, F,C, E & B

Going to get the ingredients now for shrimp and mango tonight!! Will let you know tomorrow. Hope I can find turmeric. Wife thought it sounded great, too.

Hey Corkman, It should not be to difficult to locate Ground Turmeric in the spice isle of the grocery store. McCormick has it is their product line. Easy since they normally stock their spices in alphabetical order.

Anxious to hear what you and other think of the dish.

These would be MY concerns. SNAKES are my most dreaded fear!

We were checking out a storage house that we haven't desided if it ours or the neighbors. It's on our property, yet is it painted the color of our neighbors house. Anyway,...as my husband looked around at the "JUNK"
and trash that was in there, discovered 2 HUGE snake skins! If you don't think I hurt myself running! I don't think I have moved that fast in YEARS!
I HATE SNAKES!!! (if I could make those letters larger, I would!)

Very good. My wife said it was definitely something that we should cook again and have guests over. Found all of the ingredients although the mangoes were not very good when peeled. They were much better after cooking. Put one and a half mangoes but only put one quarter teaspoon of red pepper. We will try it again soon. Also did a yellow squash and bell pepper stir fry to go along. Very colorful dinner with a good cabernet to go along.

Thanks.

That's it; the rest aren't worrisome. (If I was allergic to bees or wasps, though, I'd have D at the top.) Snakes have never scared me, bats are annoying when they get in the house but that's all, and anybody who had alligators anywhere but the bottom of the list needs to do some research!

Off the subject, am I the last person to know about the website I've linked below?

Longtimer I couldn't pull the site up. Any help?

I would add " waverunners" ahead of " go fast boats " and my vote would be; F. Crowed
C. Waverunners

I've never seen a " go fast boat " guilty of buzzing a pier but waverunners are famous for it. I hate crowds anyway unless it's party time with lots of those pink pulldown thingys. HEHEHEHEHEHEHEH!

F & C for me. I don't mind boats that go fast, I just mind them when they are doing it an inch and a half from my dock!

Lakeman, I see what you mean; for some reason, the URL for uswater.info was added before the URL I typed in. I've tried again, but I have a feeling the same thing will happen. (How useless is a link fature that automatically takes you back to the site you were on?) So, planning ahead, the site I tried to link was www.savelakemartin.com.

A , D, B, C, E, F Ask my poor hubby about his run-in with chiggers. O.K., I'll tell you - 42 bites. And the reason I know, is because I painted every one with nail polish - red. That's the only color I had. His golfing friends had huge fun with that one.
Then you can ask my friend Carol about her episode with a little green snake. O.K., I'll tell you. We were shopping (I won't tell you where), when she encountered what seemed to be the most interesting snake statue on a table with lots of other fun stuff. Until it stuck out its tongue at her. She has refused to come back to AL ever since.
As for crowded human populations, ya'll ain't seen a crowded lake 'til you come to IN!

Your poor husband. I am still laughing at the thought of all the red fingernail polish. Knowing where chiggers (red bugs) tend to dig in would make one hope his fellow golfers did not see too much red fingernail polish. As longtimer mentioned in his post, there is no need to put alligators anywhere but at the bottom of the list since they have no habitat on Lake Martin. .
