Hate to get in the middle of this mud bath, but from someone looking at the issue with an open mind, I must defend some of the bashing of Senator Dial. Senator Dial represents an area of Alabama that would be in the lower end of the household incomes of the state. In his district, there may be 10 voters who own one of the boats in question. 99% of voters in his district do not own such boats and most of them would just as soon see them banned. On the other hand, if the bill passes and they do build a resort in his district, think of the jobs and economic impact it would have in his district. Like him or not, he is only trying to do what is best for his district. Many more jobs and much more income for the counties he represents. He is doing what he was elected to do. Whether it passes or not, Senator will be re-elected in his district.

Can someone clarify for me what building a resort on a lake has to do with someone owning a big boat? I'm still confused on the link here.

Why can't they build the resort with people having big boats? Stillwaters did and it is successful?

All good points, PC AL. You failed to mention any of the impact outside of his district which is what the discussion on this board relates to. If he is worried about his district, fine, but leave us out of it.

So if its all about his district, write the bill that way!!!!!!!! Lake Martin, Jordan and numerous other lakes are not in this district you speak of, so why involve them. O, I got it, just another balogna bull excuse!!!

Sure hope you don't believe that Sentor Dial is only doing this to help the people in his district.

Once again one shuold try to know the issue before arguing it. Senator Dial did write the legislation to cover only his district, but he sought the blessing of Alabama Power. They, realizing the importance of the legislation to maintaining balance on the lakes would only support it if it included all "non navigable" lakes.

If I have interpreted what I have read lately then one of the crowds of go fast boaters hail from the montgomery area. The Alabama river forms there. It is navigable all the way to the gulf. Go play there.
