Cat Boat, I'm glad to see that you would endorse speed limits of 50 - 60 MPH on the lake for all craft. The problem is enforcement--wish the Marine Police could work out an effective way to get control. Despite what some say on this forum, there are no enforceable speed limits; only operating the vessel to fast for conditions???

Gas prices may be the reason that you see customers moving from larger (twins) to smaller single big block boats. I had a 42' with 454s once that got 0.59 mpg at cruise--glad I don't have it now!!

Cat Boat had a good point. Just because a boat can go 60+mph, doesn't mean the operator of the boat has to run that fast.. The size of the boat is really not the issue. Once again, the operator is the objective.

babygirl, I've said before that the operator is the key; however, the legislation applies to the boat--because the operator has not proven to be responsible. If the kid eats too much candy before supper, you take away the candy.
