Sorry babygirl for not posting last night, but we were all out at a massive victory party paid for by the "developers from Georgia", and attended by all of the politicians on the take (the greedy ones). I find it VERY INTERESTING to see your posts on another site.

LAKEFUN appears to have finally gotten it right. His quote on a 7:00 pm post: "This bill passed because the majority do not like these boats."

Remember the word UNDESIRABLE--the word tells the whole story.

For those of you who feel financially impacted, I'm sure you are disappointed, but Lake Martin is only one lake of many available for your use.

For SCARABMAN and the rest of you who are thinking vengeance, think twice before you spend more money on boats that could be illegal in the future.

Remember that old retired people are not on this forum; they've got much more important things going on in their lives.

Osms you will soon learn that this "Bill " is only the beginning. A very important right was taken away from us when this Bill was ramrodded through by the " good old boys " no matter which side you were on. We were not given a choice and that is what is important here. This had nothing to do with big, fast, loud boats that make big wakes and waves. This is all greed. Some pockets got stuffed full of money and the citizens got stuffed.

You give far too much credit to the political machine of "good ole boys" and money in this case. The anti-law group is so small, disorganized, abrasive, and disrespectful and the need is so great to restrict boat use on Lake Martin that there was no need for a 'pay off'. With such a lopsided vote, why would any intelligent businessman need to go to that extent.

I can assure you that if this group tries to circumvent the law, then other laws will follow. Their threats simply verify that there was a need for restriction.

Yep... let a few yahoos with revenge on their mind have their fun for a while, and you know what happens next? More boat bans, until there's nothing left but jonboats with trolling motors, and canoes.

The saddest thing is that we'll have to hear "We TOLD you what was gonna happen!" from all of the people who caused it all to happen in the first place!

NO "right " was taken away. Some restricitons were placed on a PRIVILEDGE!!

LEARN THE DIFFERENCE!!!!

It's PURSUIT of happiness ( as stated in the Declaration of Indepence). Pursue yours somewhere else. Many more from the other side are pursuing ours here.

The "RIGHT" to be present at a hearing to defend another side to the arugment was taken away! That is definitely a RIGHT in this country not a PRIVILEDGE! Just as you have the RIGHT to defend yourself in a courtroom, you have the "RIGHT" to present your side of the argument at a hearing that is introducing a new bill that may affect you if signed into law!

So see, this is where you are false, if my PURSUIT as you like to call it is having my cruiser on Lake Martin, and this is taken away then without the right to question the government then my rights have been violated.

I know that you only want the government to hear your side, since you supported the bill, however, I had an issue with the bill and was never invited to a public forum of any sort to address my issue with this.

See the problem I have is not the fact that I have lost anything, because in all actuality I have not. I still get to enjoy the lake, I still get to have my boat (grandfathered), my issue is that my children will now build memories on a boat that they can never own because the politicians of this state passed a law that restricts that without ever once asking the general public. I know how my representative voted, and I am happy to say that he actually listened. It is funny to me that legislators who have absolutely no interest in the lake passed a bill that effected so many without knowing exactly how the general public felt. Maybe the general public did feel that it needed to banned, or maybe they didn't. Consistenly I have heard all of you in support of the bill, boast about how the majority has won, how do you know that the majority has won, did you take a private poll, because I know a whole group of people who apprently did not get represented in your study.

Outsider looking in? Just a reminder--the USA has a representative form of democracy. In this case, legislators are elected to represent us at the Alabama Legislature. They debate on your behalf. Every issue is not held up for public hearings. The proceedings of the Legislature are open hearings--even on the internet in some cases.

Look at the lopsided vote in both houses--this wasn't even a real issue---IT WAS COMMON SENSE.

I agree that some boasted about the 'majority rule' issue was pushed by some, but not me. Trust me when I say that RARELY am I in favor of majority rules. Majority rule = mob rule.

Although I am glad that the law has passed, I too feel that the whole thing was handled poorly. But we are talking ALABAMA politics. I feel certain, had the process been more open the outcome would have been the same.
