I'm looking at the local RADAR right now. Yikes! Glad I'm not there now!

Yes, there was incredible rainfall this afternoon. It came in waves and dumped a ton of water. I had my bass boat tied at dock without the cover on and only a manual switch bilge pump.....it would have sunk had I not risked my life with lightning popping all around to go down 4 different times to pump out the water....think I will put it back on the trailer tomorrow!

It is raining "Cats" and Dawgs at the Lake. As BigFoot said it was extremely heavy this afternoon. Then it slowed up, and now at almost 9:00 PM CST it is teaming again. On My Oath, I did not bring it with me from Virginia.

Bigfoot,

Funny you should mention this. About 3 weeks ago a guy left his bass boat uncovered across our cove when we had that significant rainfall. His nice new bass boat didn't look so good the next morning.

It was half sunk with the drivers side completely under water. The only thing holding it from the bottom of the lake was the 2 ties downs it had tied to the dock.

I'm glad you weere able to prevent this from happening to yours !

Thanks, Pikeski. Everyone owes me a debt of gratitude for the bountiful rainfall. I should have known that, even though we have had almost no rainfall for a while, it would come a gullywasher as sure as I left my boat in uncovered! I am now searching eBay for a good auto switch....sounds like a good invention!

don't bet the ranch on those dang switches either. I had one fail one time. Usually they get clogged up with trash so I'd make sure it had a good screen/filter on it.

....good point, rr--seems there are quite a variety of switches available...most that I have seen could probably jam with debris--unless
I install some screen around the inlets. I have an old switch that is not
caged and I don't trust it to always do the job.
