Ok, I have been asking everyone and their dogs if they knew anything about generators. For everyone who has participated and provided some insight, I appreciate it.

Tonight I changed the oil, oil and air filters, and spark plugs. However badly these all needed to be done, they didn't fix my problems. I did find out through more thorough examination that my Governor Arm was broken and more than likely causing the engine from running properly. Once I replace it, I will give everyone an update...

We are all missing those bratwursts :-)

When was the last time it was run? Do you use a gas stabilizer? Open the fuel cap and take a "whiff." If it has a punget odor to it, your fuels flash point has expired. Empty the fuel tank, then drain the carburators bowl, refuel w/ new fuel, start on "full choke" to draw the new fuel to the carburator and see how she runs. Hopefully this will fix the problem.

You didn't say if this was the marine generator on your boat or not, but if it is you also might want to change the plug wires--in addition to fixing the governor. I worked on one for six months one time before I finally changed the wires--100% humidity in a bilge is rough on everything electrical.
