full pool. Even with rains, we've still going down at least 2 inches per week. Looks like we'll be at least 3 feet below full pool at Labor Day unless we get widespread rains that last days at a time. Does anyone know how much of the decrease is associated with water drawn out to create electricity? All things equal, you'd think the rains of the past couple weeks would stablize levels, but that has not happened.

It would probably take 8-10 inches of rain in a short time all over this part of the Alabama and northeast GA to raise it back up. We have had very little rain - less than an inch here since May. Power company seems to be using very little for power--I 've crossed the dam three times in the past week and the river is dead still below the dam.

I guess the rain as been spotty at lake. While it's been dry in Sandy Creek area, we've had a lot more than 1/2 inch since May in Sandy Creek. I'd say we've had 2 of 3 inches just in past three weeks.

We're on Sandy creek also, and I've watched rains go to the north of us a lot and some to the south. We always got a lot of wind but no rain. Finally, last weekend we got two days with showers and one with a drizzle all night--that total was about 1". Ride around the lake and look at all the trees that have died this summer--it's DRY.

Local rain does not affect the lake level very much. Our rise and fall is determined by the amount of rain received to the north water basin.

my neighbor though did get just under two inches on his rain gage between Friday and Saturday rains. I suppose it could very that much if we're a mile or two apart though.

it keeps shrubs, trees, grass, etc. from dying...that makes it worth something. i live on heavily wooded lot, we have lot so many trees...to see the red buds and dogwoods dying is sad.

I don't think the trees are dying, just throwing off leaves from lack of water. My grandad used to strip off the leaves from little redbud and dogwood transplants, cause they'd throw them off any way. But, you're right, it's sad to see....
