In our discussions about the lake let's remember that the current drought is a condition of nature that we have no control over--we can only pray for the good Lord to help us.

My discussions have had nothing to do about the draw down of the lake--APCo, Corp of Eng, and FERC are dealing with that very complex issue as best they can.

My point is and has always been about the winter pool level of the lake. That can be changed, and if that had been changed before this past winter the lake would be in much better shape today.

So APCO at the last reliscening should have known that 2007 would bring the worst drought in the states history and asked for a rule change to prevent it. NOW I understand.

I noticed the level dropped .2 from yesterday. My grass is about dead, and has only been cut 3 times all year. I also noticed that much of the corn crops around my area (Prattville/Autauga) is only about 3-3 1/2' tall and is starting to tassle out (spell check). This is only June.... Summer has really just begun, how bad can this get? No hay to cut. No corn to harvest. I'll bet we see some serious effects in time to come.

Pretty sad. So many other more serious things we will have to deal with because of the drought. More than just i can't get my boat in at my ramp and tie it up to my pier.

Amen!!! If your only problem in life is that Lake Martin is low this year I'd say you have it pretty good. I'm done posting about this. I think I will head back to the fishing forum. One more note, if you raise the winter level and there are heavy rains in the spring, guess what? Flood. The winter pool is based on historical rainfall and weather patterns to achieve a consistent balance. You can not change it based on one exceptional occurance. It is a very simple concept to understand. LTL offers the most valid arguments that I have read.

Historical weather patterns seem to be changing and the Corps should adjust for those changes. There have been no spring floods for a long time. They need to maintain 490 all year when there is water to support it.
