To everyone concerned about the APC water level management in the Coosa River System. I am new to this site so this may be old news to some of you; however, I have written a letter to all of our local, State, and Federal Representatives regarding this issue. I received a letter from the Department of Conservation and Natural Recourses Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division. Governor Riley referred my letter to them for a response and so far this is the only response I have received. I was given many possible explanations for the water level issues, but in particular that Gaston Steam Plant is on Lay Lake and APC needs water flow to be able to meet temperature discharge requirements or power production at the plant would have to be reduced or temporarily stopped. I was also referred to APC Environmental Affairs office in Birmingham for further information. In addition it seems that APC has filed for relicensing with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). APC has filed their operations plan in their license application with the FERC. The FERC will be announcing a public comment period very soon concerning the application. We will have an opportunity at that time to provide comments.
Review the operations information covered in the relicensing on the web address.

By the way, I checked out the Logan Martin Lake Protection Association web site lmlpa.org and asked how to join, get involved, etc. and have received no response.

Tahoe -

I paid my dues to become a member of LMLPA back in 2002 - sent in the 25 bucks and got a newsletter. I haven't received anything from them in over 3 years so I am not sure they do much these days besides the anual sweep the shores. I wasn't here this past May to participate.

I don't think Donn will mind me posting his information here - since it can only boost his agenda.

Hope this helps!

I am friends with Don's son Brad and asked him what was going on and when the next meeting was. He said that his dad (Don) had sent a letter to APCO and would probably wait until he got a response before setting the next meeting.

I too joined back in Feb of this year and missed the only meeting that I know of. If and when they have another meeting I will post information about the time and location and maybe we can all go to see what is discussed at these meetings.

We rode down Lay from just below our dam and it was very a uncomfortable change in water temp once you went past the steam plant in Wilsonville, it was like 6-7 degrees and up around 92-93 degrees.

Good luck on your letters Tahoe, they are all politicians and expect things to get better before you demand too much of them.

If you ever petition the State Gov to get something done, you can count on my signature.

Other Steve.
