Nice article, ALSCN.

I have a theory why the bass boat was coming to close and it did not have anything to do with PP for sure.

Well written article. I hope others read it and heed.

I think I know what "Dirty Old Man" Maverick was talking about. You might want to slip a robe on prior to waving off male boaters. LOL

I wonder if the Marine Police poster could tell us what the fine is for coming too close to a boat that has a diver down flag displayed.

Boats are required to stay at least 100 ft. away from diver down flags. According to 33-5-62 of the Alabama code the fine is to be "not less than fifty dollars". Also, court costs would have to be paid. In this area court costs range from $130 to $200 or so.

If one were to get the hull numbers would prosecution be possible if one were willing to sign the warrant?

Yes...with a caveat, one would have to be able to identify the driver of the boat.

I can do even better, I have a real nice zoom lense on my digital camera... will make sure it accompanies me from now on.

My 10 year old will soon be diving the lake very soon. She has had to go through a lot of training so that she knows the precautions and risk of diving, however, most boaters don't know that much about their requirements. I am simply trying to keep my family safe.

Good for you Lisa. That is why I ask the question. Get a shot of the boat and operator and contact MP. Some behavior is inexcusable.
