Where the fireworks got rained out? If so, do you know if they will be doing them on Saturday?

They shot them around 10pm. If you didn't see it, you didn't miss much. Most everyone had left by the time they actually started. 20 minutes? Lots of dead-time, and an anemic finale.

Red would have been sincerely, and legitimately embarrased.

My family was loaded up to come by boat and we had to turn around
because of the storm. Bummer!

The storms had passed clear by 9, but for some reason they didn't start the fireworks until 10. The show was even shorter than last year's, I have a feeling the 4th of July fireworks show on Lake Martin has finally become a token event. I appreciate Russell Land's sponsoring it, but it isn't worth staying on the Lake for anymore.Whoever it is that has put on a show in the Parker Creek area is just as good as Russell's now.

Prattville has a magnificent display, and I suspect that is where i will be next year (or Highlands, NC, which is one of the nicest displays you will ever witness, because the fireworks actually explode at eye level or below you).

It was great as usual. My kids loved them and that is what it is all about. Great family time togather. I would personally like to thank Russell for providing a free event everyyear for the Lake Martin area.
It did start late due to the rain and the complexity of this type show is high and obviously something you dont understand. Also, no one left early.
So please go to Prattville or Highlands next year and dont bad mouth our lake

but the simple, undeniable fact is, over the past 5 years at least, it is obvious that they are losing interest in spending the money that the shows used to cost. Mr. Blount was spending upwards of $100k when he put them on, and when Russell took it over, they were too. The difference in those shows and these the past few years is glaring.

4th of July isn't about kids, its about all of us. While I appreciate Russell Lands contribution SINCERELY, I like to celebrate the 4th in a bigger way than what I've seen at the lake the past few years.

Sorry to dissapoint you, but I'm not trashing our lake, or Russell Lands. I understand their position, and genuinely appreciate their charity. It is just becoming more obvious that their heart isn't in it as much as it used to be, and to be honest, they spoiled us all with the previous shows, myself included.

The Parker Creek show must be the party I was at. If what you saw was about 1/2 mile in front of Veazy's Marina. That guy's name Steve West from the Huntsville area. He spends a few thousand dollars in fireworks every year and the party gets larger every year. We can see both shows however the Amphitheater is five miles away. If you are on the west end after the big show next year we invite all to check this out. It's not class B explosives like the Russell show but it's the biggest you can buy without an ATF and DOT license.

Fun times!

I have enjoyed the fireworks from the water many times and from homes nearby, but last night was the first time I have experienced them from the amphitheater. There was a great crowd there until the wind picked up and everyone scattered. After the weather improved, most people came back and we enjoyed another great hour of music. They announced that the fireworks had been covered and it would take a while to uncover and test all the circuits. They started around 9:45 and did have a few lapses, which everyone around me accepted, considering the circumstances. It was a great show and I for one, appreciate Russel Lands for their contribution. If you have never watched from the amphitheater, I would suggest trying it some year. Great show.

Good info, thanks. But more info needed.
Is it after the Russell show? From a barge or from a property? Direction from Veasys?
Many lake neighbors fire their own version of fireworks for family/friends/visitors, but, they are roadstand variety fireworks. Because we are afraid to risk our lives to see the Big Show up close.
If it will repeat for next year, I for one would love to know in advance.

I attended Church in the Pines On Sunday. Someone there announced that only 40% of the fireworks were actually lit due to the weather and problems with the circuitry. If that is true, you certainly cannot blame that on Russell.

JIM RAY ANNOUNCED AT CHURCH IN THE PINES THAT 4O% OF THE FIREOWRKS DID NOT GO OFF DUE TO TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES CAUSED BY THE STORM.

THEY TRY TO TOP THEMSELVES EVERY YEAR TO MAKE IT A BIGGER/BETTER SHOW. LAKE MAGAZINE HAD AN ARTICLE ADDRESSING THAT ISSUE THIS MONTH.

That was a dumb statement I made. Just hate I missed them. Was headed by
boat and had to turn back. I always love to go. Thanks Russell, even though
I didnt see them.
