Thursday, July 3rd, we were anchored at an island near Young's Island or somewhere near there that has the real sandy beach. Our friends had tied their boat up to ours an we were floating about 30 yards from shore. 3 guys on old rented waverunners came up to us and just hovered around for 10 minutes or so..
They could have had the whole lake to themselves, but they idled right near us and looked so suspicious that our friend got in the water and gathered our children closer to the boat. They 3 guys slowly left one by one, but only to return 10 minutes later. We were ready to pull anchor (or cut it) and blow out of there, but as soon as we were ready to ditch the joint, they left again. The last guy to leave really gave us a good look over. These guys just didn't seem to be taking a fun ride on their rentals. Picture Osama's relatives on old waverunners. It was really disturbing. Were we paranoid?
We love this lake and the people! I love driving by another boat and someone throws up their hand to wave. It is the best feeling, but man, those three guys made us really aware that the creepy happenings can never be too far away!

though we have more than 700 miles of shoreline not much of it can be called "nice sandy beach." Chances are you nabbed the prime spot these guys were hoping to spend the day. Maybe they were hanging around hoping you would leave soon, maybe they were trying to inimidate you into leaving. Maybe not the nicest thing in the world to do, but not automatically shady or criminal or dangerous.
On the other hand, they could have been serial killers, or Freddy Kruger, Michael Myers and Jason on a holiday ride, looking for victims. But probably not.

We saw the same guys I think. We were over by the state park. My wife commented on how much time they spent NOT riding. For someone to have rented a Jet Ski it didn't seem like they actually rode them very much.LOL
Oh well to each his own I guess. They didn't really bother us though.
We just thought it seemed rather odd.

saw the same three, but they were @ pleasure point marina and bought gas. They had the cove with numbers on the back. I just noticed because there were a lot of us waiting to get gas and they didn't seem to want to honor first come, first serve. lol

They had no manners. Why would three grown men fly into an area with 2 boats tied up and small children in the water and just drive in circles and hover to stir up all the mud? They were up to no good. I don't care what anyone says.

You were right to be cautious. Several years ago we had a young man on a jet ski do the same thing. Then the minute my husband turned his back the pervert dropped his pants. He just idled around with his pants down, until my husband jumped on our wave runner and took off after him. At the time our daughters were tweenagers. That taught us a lesson perverts are everywhere even on our lake.
If it seems odd, it probably is, be careful.

I know the ones from the cove have cove across the back end and have a big number. I think they have 8 or 10 for rent most of the time.
