My husband and I were talking about lake level. We've been on lake over 40 years and trying to remember if lake has ever been at/or near full pool over Labor Day. We can't remember a time when it was. What say you "old timers"?

If Gustav comes here we may have a new 'full pool' level of about 500'. :-)

We've been on the lake about 45 years and I don't recall the lake being @ this level this late in the year either. I'm sure there is historical data stashed away somewhere. I'm planning on getting wet this weekend....helps to make up for lost time from last year.

it is about the same level as 2003 and 2005 if you look at the history graph; 2004 was not far behind. The graph on this site only goes back 5 years, but I don't remember it being that unusual for the lake to be less than 2 feet down at the end of August.

I drove over to the lake last night to raise my boats up (Glad I did as they were about 6 inches from floating away). The lake looks great ! I see in the Lake Level Graph that in 2003 it was this high at the end of the year.

I thought the water temperature would be lower that it is with all of the rian. 3 weeks ago the water temp was right at 90 degrees. As of last night it was down to a comfortable 80 degrees.

Looks like a great 3 day weekend ahead. High 80's and low 90's all weekend with sunshine as far as you can see. Be watchful on the water though, lots of shoreline debree is floating around again. I found 1 whole water melon and 2 2x6's and what I think might be Jimmy Hoffa floating right near our dock.

I've been coming to Lake Martin off and on for 35+ years and regularly for the past 15 years and I never remember it rising 2 feet in a 4-5 day period. It probably has happened before but not to my recollection.

Alabama River in Montgomery is near its crest... Not sure if it's still rising, but I haven't seen it this full since spring 2005 or 2006?

Actually it rose over 2' in two days back in Feb of this year, so this has been an unusual year. Over a 4-5 day period it probably rose 2' several times back in Feb/March.

I remember back about 17 years ago before my children were born the lake was down this time of year to about 486. We got the outskirts of a hurricane which was nothing more than HEAVY rain at the lake. My wife and I watched the lake fill up almost like a bathtub in a matter of hours to full pool! It was incredible to see.

I remember once about twenty or so years ago when the lake was below normal all summer, and then in September a tropical storm filled it up. We finally had some water, and most people had already given up for the year. Full pool, and peace and quiet too. Nothing wrong with that!

Opal filled it in two days in October, 1995?
