ABC NEWS BANS FLAG LAPEL PINS!

YESTERDAY THE BRASS AT ABC NEWS ISSUED ORDERS FORBIDDING REPORTERS
TO WEAR LAPEL PIN AMERICAN FLAGS OR OTHER PATRIOTIC INSIGNIA. THEIR
REASONING WAS THAT ABC SHOULD REMAIN NEUTRAL ABOUT 'CAUSES'.

SINCE WHEN IS SUPPORT FOR PREVENTING DEATH AND DESTRUCTION SOME
SORT OF A 'CAUSE'? SINCE WHEN IS PATRIOTISM TO BE DISCOURAGED?

I URGE YOU TO BOYCOTT ABC AND ITS SPONSORS AND AFFILIATES. WE ARE

Gee, we agree Spearman. Banning the American Flag goes against my patriotism. I am proud that I served in the Caost Guard when serving was not popular.There are flag lovers on both sides.

I believe that story is not from "yesterday", but from 2001, shortly after 9/11.

Given the anti-American thinking that exists around the world, I can see why they might ask that of their foreign correspondents; identifying yourself as an American in some places is an invitation to a kidnapping. But why they asked all of their reporters to do that is beyond me.

Still, it seems a little late to be calling ABC out on this one, since it happened more than seven years ago.

No apology needed, I just wasn't sure that you knew that your quote that starts "YESTERDAY" really concerns a decision made more than seven years ago.

I'm assuming you already know that "YESTERDAY" and "September 2001" are not the same thing.
