concerned that the US will now be perceived by the rest of the world as weak?

Concerned that the present administration will be perceived as naive?

Concerned that the present administration does not understand how the cow eats the cabbage?

Concerned that the present administration does not understand the concept of absolute power?

I am.

Our President said he would add civility to our foreign relations and the treatment of terrorist prisoners and he is. Apparently that is what a majority of our voters wanted since he was elected even though in my opinion the majority of them did not base their decision on qualifications. My concern is that with all the hyphenated words we are using now (African-American, Cuban-American, Mexican-American, etc.) it will not be long before we are using a hyphenated word to describe our country, not our citizens, and it will be FRANCE-AMERICA. I believe the policies that have been announced since Tuesday are much more indicative of the French ideologies than those of the United States of America.

What if the CIA, or other Special Ops types, captured a terrorist that has direct knowledge of a plan to deploy WMD in the DC area. Will President Obama change his mind about some of his civility statements concerning interrogation techniques and other policies that have protected us for the past seven plus years. The operatives problem will be where to take him and what interrogation techniques to use without the threat of being charged as criminals by the Attorney General. Having "been there and done that" I promise you they will not talk because you give them milk and cookies. Before some of you tell me I don't know what I am talking about since "I did not serve in DC", I had many years at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels of Special Ops from the jungles of Cambodia and Laos before we were there to Central and South America. Yea, I know a little of what I speak. I hope I am wrong.

Liberals don't understand (or at least accept) it. The meanest and toughest MF rules, Apples to world politics just like the playground. If you ain't the meanest and toughest MF, you play second fiddle. Anyone the least bit in touch with the real world will understand.

Agree with your concern............I'm afraid this idea of 'can't we all just get along' won't work in the big leagues. For all our sake............hope BHO and his team are fast learners. As you remember it didn't take the Chinese long into GWBs first term to test him with the jet fighter brushes. Seems early on, one of the real problems for BHO is that someone is trying to take his Blackberry away from him for security reasons.............. :-/

The last 6 threads..... all indicating a level of concern, regarding the current President, and not a peep from the hound. Could it be she shares our distress?

I think she is keeping a low profile after she chastised us lemmings because we just don't understand how Washington works and we called her on her actual quals. No response since then although I am still wildly curious about her actual background. I suspect she spent 20 years working for the Feds at mid to low levels like the zillion others. Probably has insight but not as high level as she implied.

Her frustration is legitimate. She desparately wants her vote to have been for the right man and already I think there is enough to make her anxious. He is looking desparately weak already on foreign affairs with the precipitous announcement of the closure of Gitmo with absolutely no idea what they are going to do with all these really bad guys we have there.

He has given press conferences about executive orders that Greg Craig had to actually give him the words to say about what they mean. Did you hear that? I have never in my life heard a President parrot what some staffer is telling him verbatim during a press conference with the microphone picking up what the staffer says and then he said exactly the same words. Greg Craig, the human teleprompter.

His cabinet appointments included the treasury secretary that cheats on his taxes, the commerce secretary that had to withdraw because of corruption, the "no lobbyist" administration with two lobbyists being proposed for senior administration positions, the chief of staff that had multiple conversations with Blago and is in press seclusion so he doesn't have to answer the press, the $150 million inauguration (3 x the next largest) at a time when ordinary Americans are losing their jobs in droves, his proposed $850 billion stimulus package that is only going to stimulate larger and more intrusive government and like the seven years of failed economic policies of FDR will not work and wil make things worse......I could go on and on but I have made my point.

He is being shrewd with his outreach to Republicans and knowing the group we have he will for sure coopt enough of them to obtain cover for some of his less egregious proposals. Useful idiots like Graham and others.

And lets not forget his little romp through the press corps yesterday when he actaully stared down a reporter for DARING to ask him question. Well a question that wasn't a softball anyway. He was asked about this no lobbyist policy while on the same day two lobbyist were taking office in SENIOR positions. He claimed eh didn't come to answer questions whiel becoming visually agitated. Yet GLADLY answered all the fluff questions about the White HOuse gym and and basketbal.

And then we also learn that the #2 Al Queada man in Saudi Arabia was released from Gitmo last year. This info was realeased by SA too, not us. Of course it is GWB's fault, he was set freee under his watch. Under the One they will be set free in the US. And that idiot Murtha says they can all come to PA to his districrt. I wonder if his constituents feel the same?

As for Hound, she is hiding and licking her wounds. She is a good liberal. How dare we question her? He INTENTIONS are good, so that is all that matters. But then again it may be shame and embarrassment for having her hipocracy pointed out to her about "offensive statements". Anything negative aobut bHo is offensive to her, yet she delights in bashing Bush/Cheney. Thats not offensive becasue they are republicans.

You guys are forever the pessimist, what is wrong with using the simple word “please”? Please Mr. Terrorist, tell me what you are planning so that innocent people are not hurt. Please tell me who else was involved so we can prevent them from hurting others. Please do not hurt our citizens. Please play fair. Don't think that will work?

The young voters weren't born, or are too young to remember that Jimmy Carter's pacifist ways got us into this mess and it was under his watch that we had the first attack on a US property. We are reverting to that, and it is blatantly apparent. Hound, GF, and all the others who voted for 'Change' blindly won't have a thing to say at this point. Their company line will be, "let's hope for the best".....Yeah, Right. I hope all the Gitmo detainees do go to Murtha's state, in fact I hope they move into his house. He should know better. This is what I feared most about this President, and it has come to pass in 3 days' time.

French Ban Fireworks at Euro Disney

(AP), Paris, March 5, 2003

The French Government announced today that it is imposing a ban on the use of fireworks at Euro Disney. The decision comes the day after a nightly fireworks display at the park, located just 30 miles outside of Paris, caused the soldiers at a nearby French Army garrison to surrender to a group of Czech tourists.

Advertisement for a French military rifle: Never fired, only dropped once.

French tanks have four gears, three in reverse and one in forward in case the enemy gets behind them.

Why do French naval boats have glass bottoms? So they can see French navy from the last war.

Why are Paris Boulevards tree lined? So the invading army can march in and not get sunburned.

Ya gotta love the Frogs. As my Dad was fond of saying, "Ah the French, a funny race, they fight with their feet and make love with their face (substituting a more colorful term starting with "f" for make love).

I'm not hiding and "licking my wounds". Maybe just a little disgusted and bored by the discussions here.
I was in the Russell Medical Center the other day sitting in the waiting room and overheard a conversation between two women that disgusted and repulsed me and confirmed something that I have had suspicions about. I'm not going to relate what I heard, because it was so completely offensive to me. But, it reminded me of the discussions here. And I just don't care to participate. There isn't anything that anyone has posted here since well before the election that has changed my mind about anything; in fact, I probably feel stronger about what I believe than I did before.

Welcome to America Hound. LIfe is a lot different out here in flyover country. Take a look at a red/blue map and you will see that 'our' opinions are actaully the prevelant ones in the country. You have really marginalized yourself. So offensive you can't even repeat it, what a joke. Your timing is very suspect, you only get to offended to participate when you get called out on your BS.

I cant' count the number of times your DH has come on here whinning "whats your degree in?", "What are your qualifications?", " Where is your place on the lake?" "where do you work?", etc etc ad nauseum. Even you in your short time have made the same type of statements, but YOU should never be questioned, How dare anyone question YOU. Your outrage very telling hound.

If we are so ill imformed and only you know the real world and solutions, just answer the mans questions. After all, if your qualifications are so impecable, maybe we will start to see it your way. HAHA.

You and feb truely are birds of a feather. DODO birds IMHO.

Oh Hound, you wound me. I never expected to change your mind about anything. Liberals are generally impenetrable to reason and logic. They believe what they believe because it makes them feel good and they can walk around with an inflated sense of superiority because "they mean well". What they actually do and all the unintended but inevitable consequences are not important to them. Its all about how it makes them feel.

We're sorry you are bored with us. We will miss you.
