This is not a "free" advertising Forum. If you want to pimp your company, get in touch with the Webmaster and pay for your pimping like the rest of the paying customers on this site. Just my humble opinion.

In case you didn't notice, This is a Lake Martin site, not Smith Lake.

The "Off-Topic" is "Lakes Online Forum" which is all lakes on the site. Only "Lake Martin Topics" is Lake Martin specific.

Do you offer "buffing and waxing" service, and if so whats the price?

Still don't think the company deserves free advertising regardless.

Now we are going to get their pricing. Think I'll try this brand of advertiding.

A polite email to them advising them that advertising is unacceptable would be sufficient. If they are relatively new to the forum their will not understand how it is frowned upon by the masses. Please explain the difference of this posters obvious advertisement versus "New Mexican Restaurant".... Same message, different approach. I think we need a forum specific to "local flavor" which could be specific to critiquing local businesses, and introduction of new businesses.... This may also suit Bruce's business case for his advertisements...

I don't think being rude is the answer...?

different approach exactly....we the people have been giving our opinions...no owners (that i am aware of) have pushed their product. huge difference, but i do agree this person didn't know any better.

The person who made the post is not connected to the business, in any way. I jumped to the conclusion, and maybe wrongfully so, that the poster was connected to the business. To my knowledge, all the posts about the Mexican Restaurant were made by customers, not management or owners. This is is fine and actually welcomed. If "C A clean boat" has no connections to the business, my sincere apologies.

Most likely this person does have direct affiliation. Would it have mattered if they just asked a friend to mention them, versus them introducing themselves?

I wasn't debating the policy on non-advertisement, as I hate SPAM more than anyone. I was merely saying it would have been more courteous to email them directly with your thoughts instead of belittling them publicly. Everyone makes mistakes once in awhile. Most of the time on this board the punishment doesn't befit the crime.

That being said, I still think an additional Main forum for "Local Flavor" where people could discuss local businesses, and introduce new ones would get ALL advertisement and business discussion off the other forums...?

Unless the webmaster removes it then he has got away with free advertising
