I think I already know the answer to this but, Are there any Wi-Fi hot spots at the lake? We are in the Blue Creek area and I would like to be able to get on the internet with a laptop and a data connect card. Thanks

We are located in the Bay Pine Island area. Our Verizon card works good. There are a few resturants (fast food) in Alex city also.

A lot of people around the lake have Internet access and a Wireless router or access point connected with no security enabled. These spots are easy to find using a free program like Network Stumbler on your laptop while driving around the neighborhood.

For those of you who would like to enable your wireless security, at a minimu you need to set up a SSID name and WEP Key betweeen your wireless devices. Also set the SSID not to broadcast to the public.

The Ridge Marina says it has wireless internet available but I have found it sporadic at best - even when sitting inside the marina store with my laptop.

The Krystals/gas station is a wifi spot. It's on the corner of 280 and Our Childrens Hwy 63.
