The recent agreements between the Pakistani government and the Taliban should worry this country. Imagine Taliban leadership in a nation with 100 nuclear weapons. If this happens, what will be the response of the USA?

Nuclear weapons would suddenly appear in many iddle East countries outside Pakistan. The execution of the eloping cxouple in Afganistan is just a small part of what would happen in Pakistaan. Taliban does not negoiate. Would Iran and Paistan form a partnership?

Iraq might become much more important if either of these two events happen. Maybe VP Biden's threat to Isreal not to attack Iran is an indicator of what Obama's position would be.

Folks, this country is in trouble if either of these events occur. Maybe Israel will eliminate one of the problems.

The Taliban retreated to the mountains between Pakistan and Afghanistan and that has always been a rather lawless area, which is not controlled by the Pakistan government.
I would be surprised if the Taliban took control in the whole of Pakistan since I don't think most Pakistani would be willing to establish a strict fundamentalist state; but, having said that, it's always possible in a Muslim country. They all worry about it to some extent.

Both Iran and China have provided assistance to Pakistan in their development of a nuclear capability. It has been a great concern to the US for years now.

No question if the Taliban played a greater role in Pakistan, it would put the US in a very difficult position. It would also pose a difficult situation for India. Given the hatred and distrust between the Muslims and the Hindus, it would be only get more tense.

In '07, Obama was willing to invade Pakistan.

I have no doubt that the US would go into the mountains of Pakistan.
That area is "Pakistan" but it's not really controlled by the Pakistan government -- it's considered a "tribal" area and they don't follow Pakistan laws. They have a huge illegal weapons market up there. The population mostly follows the old ways and are given to religious extremeism.
