I am away from the lake for about 5 days at a time and this up down lake level is making it hard to figure how to tie up floating things. Since we are near the "plug date" do you think the level will go down significantly again this season?

The lake appears to have leveled off for now, but more rain is expected later in the week. APCo appears to be generating with a average of about 12,000cfs because Thurlow lake is down 10 feet and they want to keep it down, so don't expect any quick drop. Obviously, any rise will depend on the amount of rain we get. Just a guess, but I wouldn't expect the lake to drop very much (2-3 ft max) again this year--normal beginning of fill starts 2/15.

As far as tying off your boat, you might try crisscrossing your lines to allow more up and down movement, ie. tie front boat line to stern dock cleat & vice versa.. Not sure of your dock situation, but longer lines always help.

Thanks. Any ideas on getting an under-water burn pile to light?

I am with you SamDog. I have a pretty orange permit nailed to a tree in my yard. I will need to get a submarine to do the work if the water does not recede considerably. Oh well, maybe BigFoot is finished with his sea wall and can come help with mine.

I had 26 ton of rip-rap dumped about 300 feet from shoreline. I am hauling them one cart load at a time behind my 4-wheeler. This is killing me! There is a country song that goes.."What was I thinking?"...I sing it as I work. I am a long way from being through and the water level is taking dead aim at my sea-wall. I guess with rip-rap I can continue to dump them (and even place them) even with the water up...the hardest part is getting out of bed each morning and getting critical body parts working well enough to go at it again. I need some of Jlazc's magic rock that will move themselves into place via making a wish!

I also have a pretty orange temp. permit nailed to a tree...looks pretty official...not sure how my help would be evaluated but I am real good at sitting in a lawn chair, drinking a beer, and telling others what to do!

Are you doing anything other than putting in rip-rap, or is a permit (APC) required to install rip-rap? Thanks.

Ouch...I know about the haul with 4-wheeler, or as my 2yr old grandson says "fo-wheeeeelr". That is some work. Let's see "They say 16 tons...." and you have 26. Even at 200 lb per trip....Will you be done by next year's football pool?

Thanks for the info. Sad that most of the beach just 300 yds down from me is all rock. But nothing really will matter if the water is now up for good.

My original seawall was built in '86 with wood which has mostly rotted out. I got an estimate for a poured wall but was more than I wanted to pay...so I decided to go rip-rap. I think you have to get a permit even if a repair job but it will not cost me the $250. As I understand it, you will not be charged if re-building in the same footprint--even with different material.

Bigfoot....thats known as the visionary position. Call On Track(334-398-3939 ...they may be able to help. All these people that were waiting to do seawall work have proably missed their window.

I did that the year of the drought. I rushed to beat the water rise and it never happened. Oh well every year at LM has new challenges!

Thanks, Farmboy....hopefully, APC can hold on a few more days to let some finish their work.

cost waived if it is the same footprint.
Looks like the planned family bonfire this month with the tree limbs/scrap lumber is not possible, but we will have a superb snake haven next to my boathouse until next Winter.
For those considering burning on the dry shore anyway, please think again. Ain't worth the risk.
