It was really touching. I read that his wife had been sick all week and roused herself to be there at the end. What a great ending.

I still remember when he won the Master's the first time and his interaction with his wife and kids. And here we are many years later and they are still obviously the most important thing to him. When he was hugging her I found myself tearing up. It is just so great to see an example like that versus the drama of Tiger.
Speaking of Tiger, it was obvious he was not in control of his emotions or his game and he still finished 4th. He is an amazing athlete despite all his personal foibles.

Yes, what a great story, and a super family!! I am a lefty at golf so I naturally pull for Phil and others who swing from the wrong side of the ball. I was so hoping that Phil's wife and those little blondies would be able to celebrate on the 18th green. What a setting for a great spring story!!

I actually felt a little sorry for Tiger. I'm sure since his life blew up, he's been thinking "well at least I still have golf", and then to finish a very public 4th in a game you've won 4 times. Clearly, he wasn't ready mentally for his come back.

Phil showed great character both on the course and afterwards. Lakngulf, we lefties stand on the RIGHT side of the ball. Stand behind the ball, looking toward the target. Where do you go to address it? TO the RIGHT side!

Hound, that's what is so amazing about the guy. He was mentally way off and he still finished 4th out of 80 players invited to play! I can't say that I felt sorry for him because if he does this well after a long layoff and all the distractions he will be back to his old form soon enough. He also got paid $360,000 which probably covered the cost of his 90 bodyguards.

I think you are right. But at the end of his round on Sunday, when they interviewed him, he seemed downright disappointed. When asked when he would be playing next he said that he would have to "revaluate".
For us, $360K seems like a pretty good paycheck for 4th place -- but when you are used to the big payoff, I'm sure it smacks "consolation prize" -- the equivalent of getting a $25 Walmart GC.

He needed the 90 body guards in case Elin showed up. I hear she swings a mean golf club.

Yeah, I heard that when asked about hitting Tiger with a sand wedge if she would do it differently next time and she replied, "Yes, I will widen my stance drive accelerate through the swing"
