I was without cable for 10 days after the tornado. I just got my bill and it's the same charge as the month before. Has anyone gotten a discount from them for lost service?

I can't speak for Com Link or the recent issue of storms. But I had a similar experience with Charter a few years ago. Buried deep in the fine print of your contract, you'll find a damage clause that says you will still pay for a full month, even if you didn't receive a full months service because of situations such as this. In my case, they were at least very nice and took the time to email me a copy of the contract I had signed. But in the end, I still paid for the whole month. Stinks, I know. Peace, TC

Another good reason to go satellite...in addition to more programing and HD channels you get a better price and can suspend service (or get credit) if it's not working. Also, no cables to go out in a tornado. My parents did have their dish knocked flat by a tree, but it was  quickly replaced free of charge.

McGill will come with chain saw and John Deere and cut them for about $20  or Bud Light.  Just be sure that you pay him "after" he cuts the trees.

I called Com-Link today and was told they would reduce my bill by almost half. Cool deal Way to go Com-Link.

I can't believe a worldly man like yourself would cry uncle because of a few trees....if there is a will (and possibly a chainsaw) there is a way!

Congratulations Frog. That really is great news. I really don't watch enough tv for it to be an issue McGill. Only thing I watch in HD is the Golf Channel or the odd football game. Other than that, Andy Griffith looks just the same in HD as he did on my old black and white set. I only got HD because the fam bought me a 55 inch flat screen for Christmas. But I do have 2 trees that could use your services. But we'll wait for cooler weather.

gotcha...it is a little hot for tree cutting (I can't believe I've been spending 8 hours a day outside on the deck) I don't watch much either, but my son DVR's 3 shows I watch with him and the set is always on if there is a football game being played. It's been a tough week for me, because we've been spending a lot of time with family (my brother came doen for the week) and my dad is addicted to Fox news; they are coming over again  tonight and I'm taking the tactic of hiding the changers and turning on the stereo before they arrive.
