As should probably be expected, encountered numerous fools over the weekend. Version 1 - driving with docking lights on. Docking lights are for..........DOCKING. Easily saw over a dozen fools crusing around blinding everyone else. Proposed solution - first offense: $50,000 fine and five years in jail. Second offense: death penalty. Version 2 - boat ramp hogs. Went to the AC boat ramp Sunday morning to pull a boat. Both ramps occupied by fools with POS boats. One guy has his engine cover off and parts scattered all over the place. Kids are swimming around the ramp, not that it mattered because no one could use the ramp. Other guy gets his boat off the trailer, but it wont start. He floats around trying to crank, while his old lady stands by the truck watching. Proposed solution: death penalty. These fools don't need to breed or vote.

A lot of the problems you discuss could be eliminated if you had boat inspections and lake specific permits. If every boat had to have their boat inspected every year, like autos are in most states, that would keep POS boats of the waterways. It would also help people avoid tickets from the MP. And free up MP for other matters than checking fire extinguishers. Lake specific permits would produce revenue and keep rif raf and their POS boats of the lake. They would not want to pay the tariff for jus a few days there could be an exemption for lake front property owners. We could charge non-owner for using our lake and use the revenue generated to create new aminities.

You know there are no POS boats only POS operators!!! In neither case that was cited was it the boats fault, only the people attempting to launch and operate them. And besides that, he was at the Alex City ramp, which is practically river, not lake, so it should be expected that you would run into river rats there and each reponsible boat owner should expect delays for such activities as last minute repairs to not only the boat but tow vehicle and/or trailer.

Please add to the list of idiots every boater that tubed their kids on Saturday and Sunday in the main channels. Now I don't want you in my cove but at least the kids would be safe. I saw kids being pulled by boats with literally dozens of other fast moving boats following immediately behind. DO NOT Tube near Chimney Rock or as you turn up river near the Ridge. Your kids will die people! Also, for the love of God, can we enforce the darn rule against the big, loud, fast boats? I mean, I see them...MP's where are you? EVERYTIME I saw one of these illegal boats they were screaming by in rough waters at more than twice the speed of any other boater. Memo to the idiots tubing their kids out there, its these big fast boats that will NOT be able to stop and WILL kill your kids...geez I hate Holiday Weekends...oh and the docking lights...aghhhh.

Cat...I might be willing to grant an exmption to the boat law for you only :) Dude, I know you love em and I really feel for you if it cost you business. I really do. But...unless I am just incapable of any objectivity I am deadly serious that these Boats were reckless everytime I saw them this week. The rough waters, intense crowds and boats capable of pwering through the rough crowded waters at 60mph + is just dangerous and my impressions of most dudes driving these boats are that they really like to intimidate and show off on the water. I will also say everytime I saw a driver I could tell it was a frosty cold one sticking out of their coozie as they blew past me. Now...certainly the folks on seadoos can be just as reckless but with seas that high they simply can't manage the speed and they don't do the damage either... Its the darn Pontoon boats pulling the kids through all of this that was at the top of my list though by a mile, just plain reckless and dangerous!

Go ahead and add the idiot on the PWC towing 3 kids on a tube in Sandy Creek - lost one and did not notice for a while, a boat stopped by the downed girl and waited for Mr. Oblivious to realize what had happened, turn around (losing the other two tubers), and retrieve the fallen one. With only a small head bobbing in the heavy wake, not very visible, no ski or board to hold up, she was a sitting target. The problem Bob, is NOT the boat, it is the moron that is running it. BTW, I do not think it was a four person PWC....

Damn.

Well my POS boat started and ran fine at the ramp.  My tow truck ran fine also. I forgot to turn my docking lights on the other night sorry, and I stopped when a child fell off in the main channel to make sure no one ran them over till the driver saw he lost one of his kids about 1/2 a mile up the river. I see now I should have mowed the kid over.

All in all,,,, I guess I messed up this weekend.
I shall try to do worse next week.

need to get you "some". Geez man you are the most complaining person I read. If it ain't over too many people at someone's house it's the POS boats. You need to find you a ho hangout and find a way to release your frustration. I feel sorry for the ones that have to be around you.

I'm just an old plumber. I know what D.A. means, D.W.V. means, P.V.C & C.P.V.C means. But, I simply can't cipher the POS. If'n it ain't against the rules of the Masonic Lodge or other secret society, can someone clue me in?

Well now don't I look stupid... I guess when you work with Chit enough, you just do not notice it that much. When I get my boat, I'll name it Nochit.

I appreciate your concern for business. Also, I am pleased that you would make an exception to the rule for me. However, that is not neccesary. I sold my Skater over a month ago, and had it trucked to Houston Texas. My new boat should be just fine, and leagle. I do believe running around at 60mph on a Holiday weekend is not real smart. Regaurdless of the size of the boat. Although I make boats go fast (or slow for that matter), I can't control the operators. If they are driving in an unsafe manner, they need to be written a nice healthy fine. It still bothers me though, that a 26' boat that is capable of 130mph can do just that, on the lake. Trust me when I say this, "The 26' boat that can, and will run triple digit numbers is far more dangerous to the driver, passengers, bystanders and other boaters, than it's larger counterpart". (This is something I do most every week is drive these things) Plus, it takes a whole lot LESS money to make the smaller craft fast, so there are 8 to 1 more of them than larger ones. It's kinda been that way anyway. I still believe we need a speed limit, much like the one for State and Local Hwys instead of the law we have now. Let me add this also...>>>> We need to do something about boating at night. RIDING AROUND AT 30MPH OR SO AT NIGHT WITH THOSE .05 CENT LIGHT BULBS DESIGNED FOR NAVIGATING IN THE 1940'S JUST AIN'T CUTTIN IT. If you don't believe that, just look at the accidents, vessel types and the time of day. Maybe we need "Idle speed only" from sunset to sunrise. Heck, you could hit someone head-on at idle or no-wake and nobody get killed. Just sayin' Ps. Most Performance Boat Insurance Policies have a NO coverage clause if you are operating under the influence. So, if that is what they were doing, they ain't real smart. And, are you ever gonna return my call??????

Hold on kitty!! I agree with every thing you said except the night driving part. I prefer night driving and aint gonna do it at idle speed only. Heck I could NEVER get anywhere. Night driving is no different than day as to what it takes to operate safely. Yes slower speeds are appropriate, but NOT IDLE speeds. IMHO the lisence exam focuses to much on 'other issues' rather than 'rules of the road'. I am always amazed at how few folks even know what the difference between the red and green means. Then there are those of us that are color blind and cant tell the difference!! With me and anyone I teach how to drive it is very easy when it comes to who has the 'right of way'. 'THEY' DO!! I always yeild. Jes sayin'. Signed, Kitty Litter
