After labor day - poof!. This is the best time of the year for the lake.

We were out this afternoon and it was very peaceful.  Weather was good and there is still plenty of water (487 in mid-September is GREAT!) and we had a hard time convincing ourselves to point the boat back toward our cabin, but finally did.

Seems the interest in the lake always ebbs as schools start back up, high school and college football get into full swing, and so forth.

Don't give away the best kept secret. Slalom skiing down the main lake at 10:00 Sunday morning and the water was as smooth as glass.

I keep a low profile, but I was out there, nice on the lake. Quit fishing and started exploring....

My wife and I were there this weekend and it was fantastic. Played golf Saturday morning and didn't see another group. Spent the afternoon on the lake and other than a handful of boats and jet skis it was very quiet. Water temps were perfect for floating. Sunday we got up, went to Mass in Alex City and then took the jet ski over so we could hike to the top of Smith Mountain and climb the tower. What a great view of the lake. Other than water leaking into our jet ski because a couple of bolts came out is was a perfect weekend.

We were there this weekend but didn't take the boat out. It was so quiet on our end of the lake. Can't wait to be back this weekend!

I saw your score card.  You left it in the Pro-Shop.  Really, did you shoot 115?????  and played just 9-holes?

When you break the course record you gotta leave the card for others to find. My lovely wife did not do nearly as well as she only was able to shoot 100 in all 18 holes!!! Huh?.......What was that?!?!.........a lower score is actually better?!?!?......hmmmm, I've been playing this game wrong for years. Dang it! Actually I shot a very mediocre 89 with a 42 on the front and 47 on the back. Not too good but I just can't keep enough of my drives in the short grass.

I'm surprised you didn't hear our 21 month old screaming with delight as he figured out how to jump off the dock! I hope the weather will be nice this weekend. We are planning to take a long boat ride this weekend!

Wheeeeeeeeeeeee  That is a great moment when they learn to jump.  Was a pretty good leap with the water level down a bit.

He was on the floating dock and copying what his 8 year old sister was doing. Love having a floating dock. Can float the boat all winter so on those warmer days in December/January take a boat ride.

No matter what I write it will open me up to further well deserved double entendre jokes. I will say that despite my age I have no problem with my putter in the short grass.....er...um....I mean my putter is straight and true when the grass is short on the greens......um....oh, heck never mind......where did I leave that bottle of Viagra?!?!?!?

Well I am not sure exactly as we beached the jet ski and proceeded to walk straight up the hill until we hit the trail from the parking lot. If you head to the third open area past Smith Mountain where it leads out to the main part of the lake you can work your way around the back where you can anchor or beach your boat. There is a road that appears to run around the mountain but we found a trail that led straight up the hill. Not too bad going up but not so good coming down.
