Seems we have just about reached the limit on the amount of political points that can be gained in Alabama by opposing gambling. They need to figure out a way to let it go and tax the heck out of it.....tax the native american casinos too.

If you look at the voluntary participants in these lotteries it represents the most regressive "tax" in the world. I find it amazingly ironic that what you have in Georgia with the Hope Scholarship funded by the lotteries is a bunch of poor people financing the college education of middle, upper middle and high income folks. It would be perversely ironic except for the fact that it actually makes rational sense for them to do so. To wit, I finance your education, you get a job and do well while I sit on my butt, I vote for Democrats to take money from you at the point of a gun, those Democrats then give that money back to them in the form of entitlements and the circle goes on.
