Beats me. I am just a crochety old 8astard who refuses to do Facebook because everyone tells me I should. Plus, being an Information Assurance professional in my day job I just don't trust them. Young twit Zuckerberg may be rich, but it won't be on my nickel. Grrump....grump...grump....and yes, my wife uses it and loves it....so?

Thanks for the offer....I understand you think it is private....but it is on Facebook....and I am not convinced that it is as private as you think,,,,just the paranoia that goes with my day job.

Obviously, no form of internet access is completely private, but facebook isn't the evil empire and is safe for those who use it properly. The privacy settings available on the fb give reasonable control for those that know how to use them, but the biggest key is to only share or use information that you feel comfortable with others (including strangers) seeing. This applies for not only what you post on your wall and the comments you make to others , but also information you enter with registration. That same advice holds true on any social media site (including this one)..... and even in the non-virtual world.
