With some luck we might have some mater slices for McGills yeast rolls. Got blooms but yet to see that first little tomato. Maybe we should just feast on the rolls until late June.

Where, oh where did you get those buckets for maters ? Made some from treated 2×10's and did not last at all. But the Fireants had a ball.

They look a lot like tubs that the mineral supplements for cattle comes in.

This place sells large nursery pots in bulk. It's a drive but I don't know of any other place to get them around here.

The key is to find a cattle farmer who has too many in the way, or will let you just pick them up from the field. If you play your cards right they come pre-manured.

Based on what I see of tiny buds, it appears about time for me to mount a guard post to protect them. Should you hear loud bangs in the future, It's just me doing my duty.

I thought today that it was time to be sure you were on duty again. Been by your place a couple of times on sea doo but did not see any activity. Will catch you on the water soon.

If LNG can't meet your demand for maters, come on by my place in the Sandy Creek area and take a look at my 76 mater plants. Some already have maters on the vine. I've bought a gallon of mayo for the upcoming mater sandwich season!!!

Now that sounds like a winner. What varieties do you plant, Maddog?

This is the first year I have ever had a garden. So I planted a lot of different varities to see what does best for this area.
Here's the list:
Beefmaster, big boy, better boy, celeberity, cherry blossom, early gril, roma, red grape and yellow bell.
I might have missed one or two but I think that's the list. How about you....what do you find that grows the best for your planting in containers. I'd love for you to come see my garden. I have corn (Silver & Golden Queen), Half White Runner Beans, orka, peppers, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, strawberries, onions and of course tomatoes.
The garden has three levels and a watering system for the dry day ahead.
