There has been some chatter around about the tentative plans for a restaurant at Parker Creek Marina. If all plans/permits go through it would be operated by The Boot at the Preserve here in Hoover. We had lunch there yesterday where I finally got to talk to Mike Mccowan and he is fired up about the project. I have seen the plans called The Boot at Parker Creek and it is really neat. I have been hesitant to discuss it much except I did tell my neighbor Milton. My reason for posting this tonight is that Mike said prior to getting plans to build a physical facility, they are going to start with a food boat. As usual, the problem has been with the health department but he thinks he has it resolved and could be on the water either this weekend or next (fingers crossed). So….. If you are up in the Parker Creek or Big Kowaliga area and see a white and red pontoon boat that is set up to sell food, stop and buy something. And be assured, I have NO financial interest in this operation. I just have a house on Parker Creek and have been wanting something like this for years. I hope posting this won’t jinks the operation but I also would like the people up our way to know about it and try it out to encourage continuing with the big facility. P.S. – We love The Boot at the Preserve. They have a web site and Facebook page you can look at.

We drifted by the marina on Sea Doo today, and lot of work on the old boat slips.  Something is happening, and it will be welcome.  Thanks for the info about the food boat.  Will have to give it a try

Long overdue.  Thanks for the update.  It is pretty sad when the closest place to get something to eat is a Russell mass gaggle "restaurant".  We will look for the boat.

Thanks for the update!  I didn't think to ask this weekend when we stopped for gas.  We won't be there this weekend but we will be on the look out for the boat next weekend!

I wish them luck and hope they get enough support to stay on the lake.

I looked at their video and their menu, and I have to say that I really like the Hoover menu. But,,, but,, the dress code will differ greatly from that in Hoover. I sincerely hope. Sure that the owner will adjust menu and atmosphere for a lake location.

But, to be able to slowly cruise from my dock over to the Boot dock, get a decent meal with decent service, even at an inflated price, would be very, very, very nice, and we would continue to support it. Good luck to the owners trying to navigate the mystery of "Laws" that govern operating a food service establishment on Lake Martin. It appears to be a real challenge....

All of us at Parker Creek Marina/Singleton Marine Group are so excited about The Boot.

Mike McGowen is a wonderful person with great vision and is a perfect fit.

Though, I really can't see the food boat being ready by this coming weekend... but I'll also have my fingers crossed!!!

:-)

Debbie
