Notice to the GOP candidates:

In the primaries, the LMF Curmudgeon will NOT vote for any candidate who is a lawyer.

The current ethics and tenets of the practice of law are an anathema to freedom and to the principles set forth in the Constitution.

The protestant reformation was significantly driven by the fact that the language of the church was Latin and proprietary to the heads of the "catholic" church.

Maj:  I think if you limit your vote to non-lawyers you may need to stay home.  I am fortunate that my representative is Dr. Tom Price but his kind are few and far between in politics.  Here is the key to 2014.  The GOP, despite being imperfect, needs to control the Senate.  The last thing we need is for TOTUS to appoint another uber left wing justice to SCOTUS, especially if one of the 5 good votes has to be replaced.  Those 5-4 decisions in the correct way would become 4-5 and that would be even worse for America than all these stupid execuitve orders that the next President can vacate with a pen and a phone.  On a related note, the reformation was about much more than the Latin mass.  Saying the mass in Latin was a tradition of the Church going back to earliest Church days when Latin was the universal language (as a result of Roman conquest of much of Europe and portions of Africa where the faith existed at the time), much like English is today.  That changed as a result of Vatican II when the mass was spoken in the vernacular.

de facto - - I used the phrase "significantly driven."

I did not say that the dominance of Latin was THE reason for the reformation.

There were about 92 reasons for the reformation.

Smeantics but I don't even think it was significant given that Luther was German.  Either way its a fine point in comparison to the need for you to vote even for the liars........I mean lawyers.  :-)

Today's society has become so litigious I felt it necessary to put an attorney on retainer.  I feel much better having my own liwyer standing by to defend me, should I need it, from the other shyster liwyers out there.

Trey Gowdy (South Carolina) is a lawyer.  I would vote for him.  Greta Van Sustren is a lawyer.  I would vote for her.

Wow,  Maj, MM, and I agree that we will not support Ted Cruz for President. Interesting article in this issue of The New Yorker.
