In short, much, much improved. The greens were in pretty good shape and were very soft. But also very slow compared to my home course. Many of the sand traps had new sand and were OK to hit out of. No doubt they are controlling weeds on the fairways and they were in much better shape. Biggest complaint is the ant piles. They were everywhere and my wife got bit. Had to relocate several balls to get away from them which is no big deal. Is it worth $50 when you can play Grand National for $65? Not really. But it no longer feels like a rip off to pay $50. Kudos to the management for the effort and let's hope it gets more play so they can continue to improve the condition of the course.

Exactly what I was thinking. He even admits to hitting out of it.

I was merely commenting about them as an admirer from afar.......well actually I did spend a little bit of time in the sand. I actually prefer sand traps to other types of hazards.

Thank you for playing golf at Stillwaters, I hope you had a great time. As I said in an earlier post we are a work in progress and we realize are greens are slower than other courses but we have been giving them a chance to heal and grow. I am sorry about the ant issue but we are continuing to address those pesky critters, we hate them too! We continue to work to make Stillwaters a great golfing experience and we appreciate your play and welcome your comments. I hope you will continue to visit.

Keep working at improving the course as I plan to spend a lot of time at Lake Martin when I retire and my wife needs a golf course that she enjoys playing or I'll never get her out of Atlanta. As I said in my post, the ants were more of a nuisance than a real problem. As for the greens, don't get too anal about the speed as the softness is a nice feature as well. As long as they are consitent and the ball rolls true adjusting for speed is a matter of more play. Having said that, we did have a couple of balls plug on the green on our approach which is too soft obviously. Either way kudos to you and your team for the improvement. People will reward you with more play.

Grand National is less than $50.00...with a trail card.
If Still Waters would drop the price to around $25.00, then I'd play there.
