Saw this on FB yesterday and couldn't stop laughing.  Maybe they are that way because they know that their helicopter parents will be there to make things right for them.    I rather feel sorry for this Millenial generations because their parents have left them totally unprepared for real life.  They all seem to think that they are the next Bill Gates, Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerburg, and that things will just come to them without any work at all.  My sister has the misfortune to manage a bunch of them and she says that for them, work is just something that you do when something more interesting isn't going on.  They expect to be accomodated, and get upset when they aren't.

But I have hopes that not all of them are like that - a good friend of mine seems to have managed to raise 3, that have their feet on the ground and their heads in reality.

I have five grandchildren, one finishing his freshman year and the other finishing his junior year in college. For the most part they are pretty level headed and I think they will do fine if the economy can start to recover from the last eight years. However, I see many young people who seem to see the world as described above. On the other hand I don't see any young teenagers  today who even come close to experiencing the kind of upbringing we had back in the 50"s. I cut lawns that were anything from a half-acre to an acre in size with a push mower that was not seif-propelled for $3.00. The schools would close for six weeks during the early fall so farmers could harvest their cotton crops. We would pick cotton in a 9 foot pick sack and get paid $3.00 for each hundred pounds you picked. On average you might pick 150 to 200 pounds a day. I am not bragging, I am just saying there is nothing in todays world that todays youth could do that would allow them to appreciate what hard times could be like. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that I wish todays youth had to experience the things that my generation had to face, but I am saying that I don't think they are being prepared for the reality that is forthcoming. I am grateful for those that are fortunate enough to attend private schools, but I see many of the luxurious automobiles these young people are driving are some of the things my generation would be working hard to be able to own a few years down the road.
