Unfortunately, that is simply not true.  Fauci is a government employee and he will get some percentage of his high 5 years of salary, depending on his length of service.  It's capped at 42 years.  He may be on a special schedule for unique individuals in scientific career fields, but he won't get $350K in retirement - at least not all of it from the federal government.

In 2004, George Bush raised Fauci's salary from $200,000 in  2004 to $335,000 in 2007 making him the highest paid government employee.

Hound is talking retirement, your numbers are salary.

Even I was able to see that.

And if retirement is capped at 42 years, the service credit will be at least 2 percent per year, so can get above 300,000 fairly easily.

I am ready for him to start drawing it

His current salary is over $430,000.....Do you have an issue with Forbes?

I'm not wrong.  He is on a special schedule for scientists, but he probably has other income too.

When it comes to his retirement, he will get some percentage of his current salary based on his years of service.  I don't know which retirement system he is under, and if all of his years are as a government employee.  Most of what you read on the internet about federal retimrements is wrong.  You know that famous chart that says Congress gets their pay for life, etc.  It's wrong.

I can already tell that the Forbes article is wrong - it used to be that it was based on your high 3, but for years now, it has been based on your high 5 years.  And it depends on how his compensation is currently broken out.  Retirement is based on your base pay.  And it doesn't matter if he has 51 years of service - his retirment compensation maxes out at 42 years of service.

If you look at OPM.gov, and go to special pay rates it will explain it.  I doubt the $430,000 is his base pay, but includes incentive pay rates for people that are considered world class and extremely difficult to replace.

The US Government uses top 3 consecutive years not 5.  You are making this "stupid"  male look smart.

I stand corrected.  It was the high 3, then they changed it to the high 5, and they must have changed it back.  There are very few CSRS employees left - that is, employees under the "old" retirement system, which is much more generous than the current system.  Perhaps the FERS (new) retirement system is the High 5, since most of the employees - since 1988, are under.

If he has survived for 51 years in government service, my hat is off to him.  No matter what you think about his "advice", either if you think he is the devil incarnate or if you think he is the savior of our health, he's worked for Trump and now works for Biden, as well as working for the head of the NIH and I'm sure he has felt like he was walking through a minefield every day since COVID got started.  I personally believe he has become too political and spends far too much time as a talking head.
