with Bernie, Warren Squad all threatening Joe to erase all FEDERAL  STUDENT LOAN DEBT-- I have  written all of them + my congressmen-Tubberville & Barry Moore- my youngest daughter ( still single)  is a critical care lab technologist, wears a hazmat suit part of each shift)--took out $40k in loans in 2009--has faithfully paid $425 monthly & still owes $18k--now when she took out the loans, National banks were 4.5% interest & FED loans were 6.5%--so for all the clammoring--if they cancell all fed loan debt I'm saying pay off the private student loan debt- I am not cosigned with my daughter, but am authorized to view & inquire- so   when i posed the question to her lender they laughed at me & said she signed a NOTE which is an obligation to repay ( exactly I said!): , now she has over 100k on her Honda  & needs a new auto & that $425 would really help. SO here I am 2 weeks later still waiting a response from all or just 1 ! Also I think both my daughters should receive a refund of what theyve paid over the years-oldest daughter worked 1 full time & 2 parttime jobs to pay off her $20k. I'll be damed if my tax monrey should go to pay off a kids loan i don know & have never met

I completely understand how you feel.  I paid my way through college, working a full time job.  I was fortunate not to have to take loans, but my feeling is that if I paid my way though, I don't know why these other people think they should get a free ride.  So many of these students end up with degrees that are useless in terms of finding a career. A lot of them went to grad school and used their loans for living expenses and got useless degrees.

And many of the students that have loans, but actually studied something useful, get their loans paid off by their employers, so they don't need taxpayers to pay for their debt.

It reminds me of those people that put their keys in the door and defaulted on their loans when the housing market dropped.

"I'll be damed if my tax monrey should go to pay off a kids loan i don know & have never met "

Once again we disagree. I'll be damned if my tax money should go to pay off any kid's loan. Doesn't matter if I know or have met them.  Why should my tax money pay off your daughter's loan?

I am of the opinion that for graduate school the obligation for any loan(s) is the kid's obligation. Obviously, if they can earn a graduate degree they should be able  to pay back any loan.

Maybe, you need to write to Tubby and use a football analogy. He used football scholarships to pay  for the education of his players. Tell him you  are just asking for  the same treatment for your daughter....a Retroactive Government Scholarship.

My suggestion is pay off your daughter's loan.

Lucky's post is not about him and his daughter's loan...

I knew your reply would be that.  Had this ready to go.  Trolling I guess it is called

I'll be damed if my tax monrey should go to pay off a kids loan i don know & have never met

He pointed out the absurdity of the plan, and if we are going to do that, then this.

But then absurdity is the rule of the day for dem Dems

any cancellation, forgiveness should apply to EVERYONE-WHETHER FEDERAL OR PRIVATE BANK LOAN DEBT--NOT JUST LOANS TAKEN OUT THROUGH FEDERAL PROGRAMS.--- AND ALL THOSE STUDENTS AND PARENTS WHO DIGILENTLY PAID OFF OFF LOANS IN THE LAST , SAY 25 YEARS, SHOULD RECEIVE A REFUND OF THOSE MONIES--CALL IT "REPARATIONS'

You lost me...he doesn't want loans  paid off for kids he never met  unless there is a  retroactive payoff for his kid's loan. Then, he has no problem with Government Welfare for college loans. I am sure my Republican congressman who I voted for will vote NO.

What lucky presents is a classic if....then... pair.  What lucky is saying is IF the Government-backed college loans are to be paid off with tax dollars THEN they should pay off lucky's daughter's college loan debt as well.

You can pair it or unpair it. Lucky supports the program if his daughter is included.

I don’t support it for anyone. Is there a difference?

As the typical Conservative said….”I don’t support PPP unless I can get a $1.000,000 loan that I don’t have to pay back.”

Does that Conservative support Government Welfare???

The Conservative motto…”Welfare Rocks If It Includes Me”

Don't be obtuse. Once again, you have purposefully mischaracterized what he posted in an attempt to support your twisted narrative.  Unlike Dems and lefties, he is only asking for it to be fair.

Understood it from the start - but I can understand where GFY is having trouble figuring it out.  He struggles with simple typos.

How about more along the lines of - I dont support it period, But if the idiots in charge are going to give away free money to people with student debt - then should it not be fair?  I still dont support it, did not ask for it - but why the hell should one group not be included because they made better decisions and worked harder, vs people who are struggling to pay it off because of a poor choice of major(s) and expecting that degree in some insane crap to get them a high paying job?

While you claim to not support it, you know the idiots in charge are going to push it through and as usual in the most unfair ways possible and you duck behind your one vote for a republican senator - questions that come to my mind -  was no demonrat running against him and you did not want to leave the section unvoted, or was the demonrat who was running against them so bad you felt you had not choice but to vote against your party.

Life is more simple when you are honest - especially with yourself.

We tend to agree here, Fish.  Having incurred a significant graduate and professional student loan debt over my lifetime, and having paid every last cent of it back myself, sacrificing alot along the way, I feel for those with student loan debt, but encourage them to pay it back as character building.   Now, regarding graduate and professional school debt, I can be somewhat open to deferrment of principle and interest during residency/training, but even then, salaries of residents who are asking for student loan relief are far greater than during the years I trained.  If you complete a graduate or professional training program that allows you to demand a salary that falls into the top 1-5% of income earners, then accrue the debt and pay it back like the rest of us did.  You may have to delay that 500k house purchase, or that Beemer, or those Ferragamo shoes for a while, but satisfy your loan repayment responsibility yourself, not on the backs of those who have already done it.

Goofy never dissapoints in his ability to fail to understand a post & take its content & twist it 360 ' to his narrative--I AM NOT IN FAVOR OF STUDENT LOAN FORGIVENESS, CANCELLATION, OR KICKING IT FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD-AS JOE JUST DID UNDER PRESSURE FROM THE GROUP--I AM SAYING IF THE GOVT DOES FORGIVE, CANCEL, ETC--THEY SHOULD DO IT FOR ALL STUDENT LOAN DEBT-WHETHER FEDERAL OR PRIVATE LOAN DEBT UNDERGRAD OR GRAD OR DOCTORATE -MY KIDS INCLUDED ! DO FOR 1 DO FOR ALL THAT WAS IT INSURES EQUALITY, NOT JUST FOR A SELECTIVE FEW --UNDERSTOOD ???? BY KICKING IT DOWN THE ROAD AND DELAYING ACTION, THEY HOPE IT WONT AFFFECT MIDTERMS AND SOMEWHERE IN THE DARK FUTURE, WITHOUT FANFARE, JOES HANDLERS WILL SLIP HIM AN EXEC  ORDER TO SIGN & US TAXPAYERS WILL BOOT THE BILL TO PACIFY THE LEFTIES -THEN ALL IS WELL & FORGOTTEN & NATIONAL DEBT BROACHES $40 TRILLION-S & P & MOODYS DOWNGRADES GOVT DEBT TO JUNK -AFTER ALL WE'RE WAY PAST BANKRUPCY;

JUST BREAKING NEWS--SOFI A MAJOR SERVICER OF FED STUDENT LOAN DEBY, STOCK FELL 10% AT OPENING BELL DUE TO THE EXTENDED FREEZE AND EXPECTS ANOTHER SERIES OF PAYMENT EXTENSIONS AKA FREEZES BEYOND AUGUST; ALSO SAID GOVT HAS PROVIDED LOAN SERVICERS ZERO GUIDANCE ON HOW TO HANDLE THE DEFERREMENTS

With that morons polling - expect him to do it much closer to the midterms so people equate his payoff with voting.  I will be absolutly shocked if he does it after the midterms when he does not get a bounce out of it.

How about the parents  who setup 529 programs and put  aside money out of each  paycheck  to finance their kids higher eductaion? Why not ask  Tubby  to support returning their tuition?

I   admit defeat....I now understand you are against paying off loans unless your kid is  included. I guess in Conservative  circles that qualifies for being against it unless, of course, your kid qualifies. I now have been reeducated in the Conservative thought process. It is bad policy but include my kid......  I can talk to my contacts about including your kid if you agree to support the Dem running in Al for Senate. Deal????????????

Again you twist words to suit your narrative but your statement "against paying off loans unless your kid is  included" is not at all what lucky said.  Lucky is against paying off stdent loans...period.  IF, per chance, the feds were to pay off federally backed loans agains his stated desire that loans not be paid off, only THEN would he insist on the fairness of having his kid's loan paid off as well.

No way I would cast a vote that might see the crooks Pelosi and Scumer stay in power, so take your Dem Senator vote request and put it where the sun don't shine...

That is where his head was when he posted it so the thought was literally already in there inside his head - so really all his thoughts are already up hiz arse.

It should also show you where his party is polling where he is reduced to quid pro quo for your vote.  Now most states it is illegal to offer something for your vote - I would say GFY's offer to talk to his contacts to get someones tuition covered for a vote sounds an awful lot like an offer of payment for a vote.  Makes sense that he would since the demonrat motto is by hook or by crook.
