A COL friend of mine in VA was asked to run for office by the head of the Republican delegation a number of years ago.  They picked him because he was about to retire from the military, he had no political baggage, he was a "fresh face" and incredibly personable.  They knew him because his wife (also a retired Col) was actitive in Republican politics.  That was my first thought when I saw Mike Durant.  War hero, no polotical baggage,etc.

I've read the article.  In my mind there was a tone of political hit piece.  Not sure where Flowers stands but it did not change my mind. 

I am NOT a fan of Mo Brooks.  I am NOT a fan of Shelbyette.

I am with you on that.  Unfortunately, Durant is funded ($3 milllion) from the guy who formed the antiTrump Lincoln Project.  His money is coming from outside Alabama

Why moneyed-class donors are fueling PACs that pass through funds to support Durant should cause the candidate to question who wants his patronage. But Durant deflects questions about who’s funding his campaign by blaming his opponents and saying there is no evidence that he is being influenced by the PACs that are spending millions on his campaign. 

While Durant claims he knows nothing about the PACs giving to his campaign a closer look at supporters of America’s Promise shows a pattern of backing Democrats and a few establishment Republicans but not Alabama-style conservatives.

Hound:  My question was for lucky...who seems pretty dead set against both Durant and Britt. 

For all: We know that Brooks and Britt are Washington insiders, swamp dwellers so to speak, but Durant is not.  Durant successfully built a multimillion dollar company employing real, live taxpayers...with a strong presence if not its headquarters in Huntsville...can either Brooks or Britt match that?  Does the fact that Durant doesn't have strong historical Alabama ties necessarily mean he won't represent the best interest of Alabamians?  I am thinking of giving him a chance as a possibly good Alabama senator...he might not work out that way but as Rev Tevye (Fiddler on the Roof) might say "on the other hand", he might.

Seems to me the liberal element thinks Fox News is Satan incarnate but it is the only place I cn go to get at least a full coverge of the news...maybe with a conservative slant, but still news.  Mind you that doesn't include Hannity and Carlson, whose shows don't claim to be news, and to a lesser extent Laura Ingram.  But Bret Baier shoots it straight and the daytime programs reveal a lot hard news that you never see on MSM or the other cable "news" channels.

Seemed to me that Flowers was overly strident in his criticism of Durant, but maybe the guy really is a wolf in sheep's clothing.  As I responded the first time, his article is definitely food for thought and I have no axe to grind other than Brooks is bottom on the list due to some of his senanigans and showboating.  And I don't really care who Trump endorses.  I will vote for the person I feel is best for Alabama. Peace.

My 2 cents.  I saw a quote from him where he refered to "the people I represent", not the voters, my constituents, the folks back home.  Nope he speaks of the people he represents so I checked who was supporting him and there was the Lincoln Project.  "Nuff said for me.  Britt is a pawn of the Millitary industrial complex and the BCA.  I know the MIC creates a lot of jabs in the state, but as a shole is nothing but cronyism on steroids, but aat least we get neat toys with the tech eventually.
