2qtr GDP:   - 0.9% vs estimates of + 0.4%; 

1Qtr GDP: -1.6% 

and a new spending bill in the pipeline to solve world problems , regulate suns heat, cap drug & oil company profits, possibly forgive all student loan debt & somewhere in the 6974 page bill a much needed raise for Congress to keep up with inflation-heaven help

They are already spinning it saying it is not an indication of recession.  I don't know why Manchin flipped.  I saw some democrat on the news asking how anyone could be against all the good stuff that is in the bill.  Biden in going to speak soon, so he'll really spin it and tell us that it is not what we think.

Given they preempetively tried to change the commonly accepted definition of a recession, including gaslighting by economic advisors who are on the record claiming 2 quarters of negative GDP was the definition of recession.....until now that is....there is no doubt in my mind that the spin and gaslighting are going to be epic. 

Their problem is that even before the latest negative GDP a majority of Americans already knew we were in one.  Now it's official....regardless of what they say.

It's not a recession......we've just entered into a "new phase of the recovery"!!!!!  Wheeeeeeeeee......changing the definition of recession didn't work, cause ya know....it's a total lie.  So their new strategery is to call this a new phase of the recovery so I guess that means the next phase in the recovery is negative GDP growth. Yeah, that's like saying putting the car in reverse is the same as slowing down.

So now folks, we're in the phase of recovery where the recovery slows down...except that it slowed down so much that we are now I guess in the negative recovery phase of the recovery.  Of course consumer sentiment is in the tank, job losses remain high, we still haven't recovered all the jobs lost in the plandemic, inflation is raging, interest rates are on the rise, inventories are rising, mfg index is cratering, and so on........all positive signs of our slowing negative recovery not a recession thingamajig doohickey.

These people running the show in the WH are a bunch of clowns......and to top it all off in the midst of record inflation Manchin folds and agrees to more inflation-driving spending called the anti-inflation transitory inflation act or some other catchy name that is the exact opposite of what it will actually do.  Sort of like the affordable care act.  Recent polling shows 65% of Americans believe we are already in a recession and the other 35% are economically illiterate.  The Peanut farmer is officially no longer the worst President in the last 100 years.  Congrats Jimmy!
