From Forbes...

"A provision that would have capped insulin prices for private insurers at $35 a month was blocked by Republicans on Sunday, with 43 senators voting against the provision while 57 lawmakers—including seven Republicans and every Democrat—voted to keep it, falling short of the 60-vote threshold required for non-budget-related items."

Too bad, the Republicans turned their back on their diabetic supporters. The $35 charge will apply to those covered under Medicare.

From probably the same forbes article.

Republicans argued the insulin price cap did not fall under the rules for reconciliation bills, after Senate parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough said the provision did not relate to the federal budget (reconciliation bills must deal with budgetary legislation in order to bypass the 60-vote filibuster rule and pass with a simple majority vote).

Amazing, why did you not post the information about WHY they did not vote for it?  well we know why......

Please clap louder and applaud like a trained seal as Biden/Demonrat congress fiddles as inflation gets worse, fuel prices get worse, and the economy goes into the crapper.  If Biden was a republican you would not be praising and you know it.

You are correct it did not fall under the bill. So, a separate amendment under the rules was proposed that required  60 votes to include it in the bill but  Republicans voted against the amendment. Hope this clears it up...no attempt to hide anything.

Too bad, you can only post gotcha stuff which serves no useful purpose.

The Republicans also voted against the Veterans until they realized you don't vote against patriots and defenders of the Country when it comes to medical treatment. Then 2 days later they decided to support it.

Imagine that.....Republicans not in favor of artificial, govenment mandated price controls on private companies.  What a shocker!  Ya see Goofy, there are thankfully enough of them to oppose price controls which ALWAYS result in scarcity...or in this case more likely passing these costs onto other insurers who are not diabetic in the form of higher prices.  That is the position the economically literate would take and the exact opposite of the economically illiterate who stupidly believe that the govt can just give stuff away for free.  A

s Bastiat said so well, government is that fiction by which everyone lives at the expense of everyone else.  You apparently believe in that fiction.  Kind of like you believe in the fiction that this bill will reduce inflation...it will do the opposite...and will not result in higher taxes for everyone that pays federal taxes...which it does.....and that 87,000 new IRS agents will target the rich.....they won't.....and that Sinema voted for the bill for any reason other than getting a huge tax break for rich investment companies like she worked for.....she did.  Fiction is where you live.

Anyone is nuts who believes newly hired IRS agents, especially knowing how little they will be paid, will be able to go toe to toe with the highly experienced, highly paid corporate lawyers.  No, they will do just what you said, using their newly found power to lord over the common folk and force them to pay extra taxes they don't owe because they are not well versed on tax laws and can't afford a tax attorney.  I am especially concerned about the proven fact that when folks who grew up without privilege are put in positions of power they let that newly found power go to their heads and abuse it.

Why go toe to toe with very smart, experienced and competent tax attorneys and accountants when you can browbeat small business owners and middle class taxpayers that have no way to understand the complex tax code let alone the financial resources to pay for the accountants and attorneys?  Especially when your next pay raise is based on how much cash you extract from taxpayers.  You can shoot for the white elephant but the vast majority of them are going to go after the low hanging fruit.  That's you and me.  And if anyone tells you that you shouldn't be worried unless you cheat on your taxes you can tell them for to GFY.  Only a very small group of people understand the 75,000 pages in the tax code...a very small, elite and very expensive group that none of us can afford.

And that doesn't even address all the sweetheart deals like Sinema got for her private equity pals.  We'll see if the average American can pull their heads out of their backsides in November and recognize that the Democrat party is destroying this country.  Raising taxes during a recession and flooding more debt derived cash into the economy while we are experiencing high inflation is the definition of insanity.  Doing what is right and sane is the last thing on their minds.

It's just another attempt to play to his base - this time it's the climate change crowd.  I can't believe that rational people think that by spending money on climate change that it will somehow make a difference, recognizing that the main polluters are going to change a thing.  You know, every day we see new pictures froim the Webb telescope and scientists are so suprised to find all these other ancient galaxies.  To me, it just proves that there is so much we don't know about, yet the climate change crowd is so sure it's man caused.

As far as the taxes - yes, I totally agree.  They could simplify the tax code so people could understand it, but they don't - because it benefits them. In the end, corporations aren't going to pay anymore, because, as you correctly point out, they have the smart lawyers and accountants who can figure out the loop holes and drive a truck through them.  The vast majority of us don't understand it.

Democrats will leave office with a bigger deficet and future generations will pay for it.  And in the end, nothing will be better.  Watching a bit of. Squawk Box this morning, some liberal was mouthing platitudes about Biden, but one of the anchors pointed out that for all the money from the infrastructure bill, where has it gone, because there has been no improvement in the infrastructure.
