Saw the headline on FoxNews this morning about a bunch of teens in Dadeville being killed.  Light on details but pretty shocking to those of us that view Dadeville as an escape from the crime in large cities.  Probably even more so for full time residents.

It is really sad.  I have no details other than what I have read this morning, which is nothing more than how many dead and injured.  Just when the square is seeing such a resurgance of business ventures and entertainment venues.

With the number injured this will impact most of Dadville, nearly everyone will know someone directly affected by this tragedy.  I sincerely hope and pray that those responsible are brought to true and swift justice.

Four people dead.  Shooting took place after an argument broke out.  No one is immune these days.  So much anger.  With sports rivalries, gang rivalries, etc, no place is immune.

One of those killed was the brother of the girl havig the birthday.  The mother was shot too.  Apparently he was a star athlete.  What a horrible way to remember your 16th birthday.  What could they have been arguing about enough to take multiple people's lives?  Understand that First Baptist in Dadevile will have a prayer vigil tonight.

What a horribe start to the lake season.

@ 5 PM by cops.  Still 4 killed, but number injured raised to 28….no discussion on whether the 28 were shot, trampled, or what.  No discussion on perps, motives, leads, etc.  I guess the State cops think no info to public is good!!  Surely cops know who killer is.  With so many surviving witnesses, someone must have known perp.

Lack of info on the shooter is really strange compared to other mass shootings, especially whether the shooter escaped the scene, had a getaway car stationed, acted alone, and so forth.  Agree on the injury part, no info on how many shot and how many suffered collateral damage as you mentioned, such as cuts and bruises from the mayhem.  The injured listed as critical, on the other hand, were more than likely shot.

Prayers for the criticals that they recover and didn't suffer brain or spinal cord injuries.

As many people as we're there surprising that more details of ahooter(s) are not known.  Check this article

https://news.yahoo.com/dadeville-shooting-victim-attends-prayer-002331827.html

Square info in article with police saying "community not at risk"

Square that with police wanting tips on anyone at party

I read multiple shooters, 2 from back 2 from front.

I read there was an argument

I think police trying to separate good guys from bad guys and lots of different perspectives on what happened 3ven by those inside

Interview with DJ at party said too dark to tell.

Above article may be clearest picture so far

I read that 28 were injuried- 9 that had to dispersed to other hospitals.  I think they said 4 in critical condition, 5 in stable condition.

From the description of one of the party goers, it sounds like there were multiple shooters.

The few thoughts I had:

Given that many black people don't trust the police, are they failing to give the police information on what happened?

Is this a gang/school related and the police are not releasing informaiton out of concern for possible retribution?

I saw one report from Pike Road school that said they had a student that was "impacted" but no futher information.

Is the woman that owned the dance studio the same woman that is the mother of the young man shot and the child celebrating her birthday?

It just seems so odd that the police are being so tight-lipped about the dead and the perpetrators.

The four dead have been identified.  Two were seniors at Dadeville.  One was 19 yr old who graduated from Opelika.  Other was 23 yr old Dadeville 2018 graduate.  In order  Philsavious Dowdell 18, Keke Smith 17, Siah Collins 19 and Corbin Dahmontrey Holston 23.  I saw a picture of three of them.  Beautiful young people with so much ahead of them.  Sad

I am surprised there was not any more made of the report from the victim that some of the shooters told her to get down.  Her report confirms multiple shooters.  Also she said that the Mother told those with guns to get out.  So there was an altercation, some words obviously, and a potential issue that the Mother tried to limit.  Agree with you on the distrust and info will be spotty at best.

I have nothing to go on but I am going to guess one of the four dead is the first shooter.  Just a hunch

Intersting thought.  Yes, they did say that the public was in "no danger".   The police seem desperate for infomation, which makes me think that a lot of people aren't talking.  There were 50 or more people at the event, so someone must have seen something.  If the mother thought that there was a gun at the party, I would have thought she would have done more than just ask anyone with a gun to leave.  Given the number of shootings that take place, I would have thought she would have called law enforcement or shut the party down.  But I'm not judging, because I was not there and we never know what we will do until we are in the sitaution.

It's just heartbreaking to think that 4 young people's lives were taken and those in hospital whose recovery battle is just befinning.  My heart goes out to the girl whose birthday was being celebrated, as her brother was one that was shot.  What a horrible memorty that will always be with her.  Not to mention the poor families.  Why can't people just walk away from their disputes?

Of all the comments the no danger one stood out to me when I read it.  How can they know that unless the shooter or shooters are dead?  And if so, who shot them?  It sure wasn't the police or we would have heard about it.  There are more questions than answers and I find it very hard to believe that no one has come forward and ID'd the shooter or shooters.  And if they do know and aren't talking they are either afraid of retribution, distrust the police or a combination of the two.  All around so sad and awful.

Had this conversation at dinner last night with friends.  I was lamenting the cultural rot as evidenced by the reality that when I was 16 years old and there was an "altercation" at a birthday party the most you had to fear was a black eye or a bloody nose.  Now, even in little old Dadeville, AL kids are willing to use guns to settle their differences.  The guns haven't changed, they've always been there.  The cultural has degraded to a point where young people are now willing to kill each other.  But it's always easier to point to an inanimate object as the cause rather than addressing the real issues...fatherlessness, broken homes, culture of death, irreligiosity and so on.  But those issues are not only hard to address but go against the platform of leftists.

I agree 100% about the "no danger" BS....  If a person or people who are responsible for the deaths of four people are in the area and they themselves have not "expired", the community is indeed in danger.  I can't recall anything like this in which the public has been kept as uninformed.  This sounds too much like "the usual suspects" are involved, but anyone who thinks the police are keeping you safe is a fool.

I think it should have read not a threat to this community, as they are most certainly a threat to whatever community they are in.

As for the news blackout, I consider myself a Dadeville resident even though my address is in J'Gap, I am OK with it.  I heard a radio host today lamenting the fact that we dont have details yet and that it hadn't been picked up by national media because it doesn't fit their narrative.  It p!ssed me off.  I don't want my town, that is currently undergoing a very welcome revival of the square, to be this shooting.  I want us to be known as a great little small town that has a thriving local entertainment/hospitality economy and is welcoming to all that want to enjoy it, WITHOUT VIOLENCE.

In the next week or two Zazu's concerts will move outside again for the season right on the square.  I hope the community show out in bigger crowds than ever to show that we will not be intimidated by thugs.  I am certain there will be some GGWG around.

I don't think Dadeville itself is at a risk of being considered "dangerous".  I think most people know this was a private event and was limited to those at the party.

I heard some rumors at the gym today.  When officials don't release information people will make up "rumit" (rumor intelligence) to fill the gaps. I feel bad for the kids - they are at an age when they feel invincible and are havng to face reality that they aren't.

My wife mentored a young lady in bham and even after three years it was obvious that there was little chance of a change in the family.  Despite arranging housing, taking her to church weekly, tutoring, etc, the young lady probably would have benefited from the experience. But momma couldn't pay her bills on time, lost her housing we arranged, birthed two more children from different fathers, and my wife was advised not to travel to the family house in the hood for fear of her safety.

I provided our experience to illustrate the differences in cultures and the difficulty in introducing a difference in family settings.  Perhaps some could be helped but this tradegy is just one of many these guys and gals will face and it's NOT due to Race.  Pray for our country and for those who are economically oppressed and caught up in a no win culture.

Lifer, I agree....  What I have a problem with is that the lamestream media refuses to call it what it is and the LEOs CANNOT.  I have family who fit in that last category for most of their lives, but towards the ends of their careers took a more laid back approach to response because they are being vilified.  As a rule, avoid the jungle when you can, but always be prepared to take care of yourself and those you love.

I don't have personal expereince as you do, but I've lived long enough to observe brand new public housing go downhill into trash in a few short years.  There is a cultural difference.  I had a young man that worked for me - he was from the "hood, but had enlisted in the Navy and did pretty well for himself.  When he was 30 he came into my office one day and announced that at 30, he had achieved all the goals he set.  So I told him he set the bar too low for himself and that he needed to get busy studying for the promotion test and also to go acorss the parking lot and register for college and I would give him time off to do it.  And I was very proud of him as he worked very hard.  So fast forward a few years.  I had retired, he retired from the Navy and we were FB friends.  So when all the current race nonsense got started posting about how bad it is for his race and how the police are always harassing them.  I asked him point blank how often he had experienced that himself.  Starts telling me about his "cousin".  This went on and on and I would periodically ask him when something he posted about had been personally experienced by him.  Never got an answer and eventually he unfriended me.

There is a culture of victimization.  An unwillingness to see that things happen and then strictly to attirubute it to racism, and not as the outcome of behaviors and attitudes.

In the meantime, two of the dead have had GOFUNDME's set up to cover their final expenses.

But, but BUT....the Alabama Legislative Black Caucus called for "gun reform" and that will take care of it all.

They need to get a clue from the hit TV program "This is Us"

Regarding Pike Road Cheerleaders.  I have it from a reliable source that yes, two Pike Road School cheerleaders were shot and in critical condition.  One is a friend of our grandson and has been swimming at our house.  The other is an acquaintance of our grandson.  Pray for them and their families.  They need it very badly.

Got number three, a 20 year old from Auburn.  My source is correct so far, and if the rest of the info is as good there is at least one more 20 year old yet to be collared.
