Played there recently and it once again is really struggling.  Starting to see ant piles although not as bad as in the past.  The greens were in terrible shape and the "sand" traps are as bad as ever.  Very little grass on the fairways.  All in all in pretty rough shape.  I do wish it got enough play and revenue to be able to maintain it better.  Looks like we are back to driving to Grand National, which with a trail card costs no more than Stillwaters and is substantally better maintained.

a lot of little things would add much to improvement like grading  rough areas around greens & teeboxes--greens? who knows? fungus ? havent had new sand in ages; alas--very few course workers--not much gets done year after year

They are in a up and down cycle.  The quality of play is so bad it's hard to justify what they charge but even if they charged less it probably wouldn't improve their revenue flow.  The reality is that there just aren't enough people living in Stillwaters year round to support the course in a manner that would give them enough revenue to properly take care of it.  Hard to pay for year round maintenance on the extra rounds played during the summer.  While I have some issues with the layout of some holes, especially 17 and 18, it could be a nice course.

There used to be 36 holes there. Sounds like the need to drop it down to nine!

chicken vs egg--if they would 'invest' in some improvements it would likely result in more play/ members--seems to be a lack of priority to owner which is baffling--i opersonally know 6 regular golfing members who did not renew membership in January due to continued poor course condition and an apparent lack of owner concern in his investment

It does make me wonder if they have to keep at least one golf course to not run afoul of homeowers in Stillwaters.  I know there was a kerfluffle over them dropping down to 18 holes as the early purchasers bought what they were told would be a lake/36-hole golf community.  It is pretty obvious whoever currently owns it are not interested in making the course playable.  There are some new developments going in there right now.

'supposedly' will have new owners next week--wait & see; having been a lender for 45 years , I'm proud to say i never had to foreclose on a golf course or restaurant--simply because i wouldn't make those loans
