As of December 29th APCo has filed for a temporary variance with FERC.

The below link should take you to FERC's website and APCo's variance request

Variances are:

- 483 winter pool level
- Fill begins 1/15 instead of 2/15
- Expect to reach full pool by April 1 instead of April 30th.

With just a few hours left in '08, BigFoot, you might consider a couple of new awards:

Like, Best Access to ACCURATE Alabama Power Info award
or Best Joined at the Hip award
or Best I Wish I Had Thought of That Alias award
or Most Cryptic award
or Best I'm Posting Because Work is Slow award

That is good news although I have been watching the level drop over the last 30 days with normal to above normal rainfall and am mystified. Why have they been runnig so many turbines since we hit winter pool? It seems to me that with all the rainfall they don't need all that flow to keep the Alabama River up. To me something is not right about this, especially since we have decent rainfall. My fear is they are looking at longer-term projections and they are not good and they now realize they dropped it too much!?!? Hope we get this approved because 483 gives me enough water to float my jet skis.
