the lake must be full

As here we go again just like ever year.

- Complaining about the marine police

- Complaining about inconsiderate boaters

Whats next the boats that are to fast for the lake, cabin cruisers throwing off huge wakes or maybe the wakeboard boat or crazy PWC drivers.

So the lake must be full and sun must be shining as the bitching and complaining we see year after year on the forum is beginning.

Why not try to go out have a good time on the lake and relax and if you cannot do such on the water sit on your dock and relax as that is what we all like to do at the lake is RELAX and forget about the real world and such other stressful stuff. SO JUST RELAX !!!!

I for one stay home a lot on the crazy holiday weekends and laugh at all the crazy folks on the lake as they pass by and am thankful I am just sitting on my deck enjoying my part of paradise with friends and family.

Inconsiderate boaters and being stopped by the Marine Patrol is a small price to pay to be able to enjoy the Crown Jewel of the South. As I tell my children whether driving a car or a boat, alway look out for the other person as you have no idea who is behind the wheel and always be safe rather than sorry.

Ditto
I have lived on this lake for 23 years. What a Blessing! Just look
at it folks. We are so lucky. I have enjoyed 23 years of sunups and sunsets. From no boats to a lot of boats. Just look around
you and enjoy the blessing!! WE are so lucky.

I'm like you. When the crazies are on the loose, I just sit back and enjoy the show, and laugh knowing that they won't be around for the best times of the year.

When all the naysayers were whining because the lake 'would never be full again'. There were very few of us that were confident in APCO's abillity to properly manage the water level. I was the lone voice of reason back then. I really got a kick out of the fact that so far this year they have opened flood gates, twice, on a lake that would never be full again!

I would not credit APCO so much for the water level. All the spring rain is what brought the water up not APCO. When is everyone going to learn that the lake level is dictated by mother nature. When have you ever seen a year with average to high rainfall and a low lake level.

Simple mathematics really

more rain = high lake level
no rain = low lake level

..APCO had the forethought to seek the variance on the rule curve to capture the heavy January rains each year. This year we would have filled anyway, as it turns out. But last year would have been a different story possibly. They collected the data and presented it to the Corp to show that the rain patterns have shifted slightly and the rains needed to fill her up were coming earlier than in the past.

Why are so many of you determined to not give APCO any credit?

Correct. One thing I am very sure of. I would not want the job to determine daily ops of the water levels. If ever there was a catch-22; danged if you do, danged if you don't.
Think about how many forecasts of no or heavy rains that do not happen...and you are supposed to make decisions based on that!

Exactly!!! It's all dependent on rain. Variance or no variance!

More rain = high lake level.
less rain = low lake level.

APCO just open and closes the gates based on RAINFALL and forcasted RAINFALL. APCO could manage the lake level until they are blue in the face but if there is no rainfall the lake level will drop. They could increase the variance by 5 feet but if there is no rain the level will drop. The lake levels of 06 and 07 were due to lack of rainfall, period, case closed, the horse is dead!!!!!!

"I was the lone voice of reason back then."

The LONE voice of reason? You do realize what "lone" means, right?

I guess this does mean that you have dropped the "I'm not LTL!" charade, though, right?

Still not at full pool, yet. Jan Ellis made the statement in an interview last week for the Montgomery Advertiser that the lake was at full pool. She lied!!
