still need a slow wake buoy in slough between McCain Rd & Cove Dr !!!! have asked repeatedly--wave runners blast out of back of slough & back in at about 40mph

Not saying you don't have a worse situation, but I think the same type activity occurs in a lot of the sloughs around the Lake.

I imagine some parts of the Lake get significantly more activity. This maybe your situation.

I just wish the operators could see the disturbance they leave behind.

I routinely lift my boats to prevent damage, but I see what it does to my neighbors' boats.

and the MP's won't even talk to us about it. Jet skis going full speed 3/4's of the way into the slough, folks pulling wake boards, and tubes doing doughnuts in the widest parts, etc. When we called the MP's they didn't even listen - first thing he said was 'absolutely not', without even hearing the details. And yet, places like The Preserve get them before 3 houses were even built. It isn't a need-based thing, apparently, it's WHO is asking.

What happens if you just put one up? I see these big round balls in front of several places, sometimes WaY (emphasis but not quite a shout) out into the water. Where can we place them? How far out can we place a swim rope area?

Why anyone would build/buy a house on a lake and then complain about boats is beyond me. Your toys, YOUR responsibillity. Everyone wants to be on 'big water' but not have the effects of wind and wakes. Stop whining and b!tching and tie your toys up properly.

And don't even start with the driver being responsible for their wake. I know that is the law. Have you EVER seen it enforced? Have you ever pursued it civil court? The answer is no to both I am certain. Waves are inherent to water so unless a violation occurs causing major damage you never will see them ticketed. Everybody wants a no wake bouy, that is why nobody gets one.

Whether they pass at 10ft, 100ft, or 1000ft makes no difference in the size and force of the wake. I would bet that the same ones that are here complaining are guilty of doing the same thing elsewhere. If there is enough room in front of your place for wave runners, skiers and tubers to be doing donuts, then there certainly no way you will get a no wake bouy.

As for swimmers bouys and roped off areas..... well lets jsut say that if you put them out and I run over them, YOU will pay. It is NOT your lake. You can NOT declare part of it off limtis to anyone, most expecially with hazards like ropes in the water. Ever seen what a rope does to a prop?

Swimmer. We are all just asking questions here, and offering some thoughts and opinions. Thank you for yours. Come by my place, it is on big water, I have big waves, I make big waves, I jump big waves on my little sea doo, and I love it. If a jet ski starts following me and jumping wake, I slow down to make more wake for them.

You will not find the big red balls in front of my place, and you will not find swim ropes. Now you may get your prop caught in some fishing line attached broken off on my pier or boat, but that is another story.

We all enjoy the lake, some are more courteous than others.

Courtesy on Lake Martin is sadly a dying entity. A thing of the past.

We are talking about sloughs here - not 'big water'. When boats come into a slough at high speed, there is a huge wake. Heck, we've even had our landscape lights that are 2' above the shore line washed over by the waves. And, when you are in a slough where a 360-degree turn brings you within 10-15 feet of docks, AND you are pulling little kids behind it and they barely miss the docks with each pass - well, that type of behavious isn't responsible at all.

All the people from Atlanta etc., that don't give a hoot for considerations of others. They are here for the weekend and then they are gone. My slough is less than 70 yards wide and not over 300 yards long, they come in sightseeing and see the end and turn around and haul A out. Mostly ignorant people on pwc's that are guilty.

But I will add that if you witnessed that behavior and did not report it to the proper authoities, you are just as guilty of endangerment to a child as they are. It is your moral and legal obligation to report such behavior. Did you get hull numbers? Desriptions? Video? Stills? You say this behavior went on all day. That is plenty of time to get a response from sheriffs and/or MP's.

Don't complain about others irresponsibillity while dismissing your own. If it was as dangerous and reprehensible as you say why not flag them down and confront them? If it was illegal activity document it and sign the warrant yourself!! Remember, when you point your finger at someone else, there are three pointing back at you.

You are correct also, and we are taking down information when we can get it. Frankly, it is very hard to read the ID numbers on the boats and jet skis when they are zooming through, and even when they are doing the 360 rounds pulling kids. But we are trying. And yes, we have tried to shout them down at times, but they just laugh and continue on.

Baseline fact is if they do things like this they have no consideration for anyone anyway, and they aren't going to stop unless the MP's get them. We've seen these folks almost hit docks many times, barely miss throwing their kids into docks or boats as they swing them around, pack up to 6 kids on a tube - all sorts of crazy things. It is truly amazing.

And asked Pres. Obama to add a No-Wake Czar to his arsenal. This will have your problem solved by the coming weekend.
Send me the bill.

Sorry DB, there has been a delay in the seating of the No-Wake Czar. Looks like BO's first ten choices had all paid their taxes, and were thus disqualified for the position. I am told however, that no expense will be spared to find the right person for this very important position.

lol!!! No, wait...I can just charge it on my credit card bill because BO will take care of that too, right?

I just grind my teeth at the headline on MSNBC today about the lady who is over $60k in debt over a 20-year period on her credit cards, has nothing to show for it, and can't pay her bill. What the heck? And, she has her face on display to the world???

We had 2 bouys in our slough, lost one last week in the storm that came rollicking thru a week ago.

We in our slough purchased the bouys, after talking with the marine patrol and being informed that - IF 80% of the homes in the slough agree to a bouy, and you have it in writing, you can purchase one with the marine patrol's approval. I hope this helps.

80% Well that would be a democracy in this here Republic.

In this thread I tell how I got a ticket for a technical Misdemeanor and I was in fact wrong, but so many of you are right.

There is a lot of crazy activity on the lake. Stuff I can not explain.

I am a pilot, and if some of the navigation I see on the lake went on in the air, the lake would be littered with the dead body's of dead airline passengers.
