Does anyone know if there is a heavy duty front bumper available for Yamaha WaveRunners? The stock bumper will only last a few weeks with a local boat rental. Any ideas on making one are welcome.

You may find some pictures of the type bumpers you are looking for at http://www.worldsbiggestbumpers.com/marine. NC II has some included in her Aquapalooza videos.

I knew you would be helpful, Summer. The world is full of folks looking for new bumpers, and some find rentals.

in this, also. We have a Yamaha waverunner and the bumper didn't last a season with the teenagers. Our bumper was hit so that a new bumper would not fit into the original fiberglass holes. Not only would we need a new bumper, we would need to find a way to attach it. (we thought about outfitting it like a sherman tank, but didn't think it would float)

take the thing to a muffler shop. get them to bend some stainless pipe to go all the way around the thing. attach it through the current bumper and hull/deck with 5/8th grade 8 stainless bolts every two inches.

if that does not work, chain the opperator to the pipe, jam the throttle in full, point it out to sea and call your insurance company.

if on the otherhand the opperator has really good bumpers, call me

I noticed some great bumpers in the videos, and although most were on boats, I am sure that they could find a place on PWC as well.... :-)

The bumper saga continues I guess.

Next time I think I will use the proper name (bow gunwale). I really need something that will absorb the impact of running into the dock. If I make it out of fiberglass it would just transfer the force to the fiberglass body. The same with wood or metal.
Thanks

You might want to check Overton's/West/Bart's and look at pier guards, some are quite flexible. Option 2 would be something like the small rear bumper (metal variety) like on Model A's. Who knows, you just might start a trend....spinners on PWCs.....

Thanks
I saw a radius pier guard in one of my books but it appears that the radius might be too tight for the Yamaha. I will check it out further.

I have come up with what I think will be a solution but I have not made the change yet because I have not been able to get the owner to come by and see my proposal.
