Pee Dee River

 
Length: 200 miles (322 kilometers)

The Pee Dee River or Great Pee Dee rises in the Blue Ridge in west North Carolina and flows northeast then southeast to Winyah Bay, South Carolina. It is called the Yadkin until it is joined by the Uharie River west of Troy, North Carolina. It is formed by the joining of Yadkin and Rocky rivers 14 miles north of Wadesboro, flows south-southeast through Blewett Falls Lake reservoir, to west of Rockingham, North Carolina; then flows past Cheraw and Pee Dee, South Carolina, joins Waccamaw River in several channels, from 14 miles southwest of Myrtle Beach to Georgetown, paralleling Waccamaw between these points. It receives Little Pee Dee River 18 miles west of Myrtle Beach; enters Winyah Bay with the Black River at Georgetown. Several hydroelectric power plants are on the river in North Carolina. The spelling Pedee is sometimes used for this river.

Lake Tillery is a reservoir between Badin Lake and Blewett Falls Lake in the Uwharrie Lakes Region of North Carolina. It is entirely within Stanly County and Montgomery County, NC.
