Altamaha River

Length: 137 miles (220 kilometers)
(AL-tuh-muh-hah), Located in Southeast Georgia. Formed by confluence of Oconee and Ocmulgee rivers at 7 miles North-Northeast of Hazelhurst, Georgia. The river flows Southeast, past Darien, to the Atlantic through Altamaha Sound (2 mi wide) at North end of St. Simon Island. 31°57'N 82°32'W. Dredged and navigable (for boats of light draft).
