Arkansas River - rising in the Rocky Mountains in central Colorado. At 1,450 miles long, it flows east through south Kansas and southeast across northeast Oklahoma and enters the state of Arkansas at Fort Smith, flowing east and southeast across the plains to the Mississippi River. The Arkansas River is navigable for 650 miles up to Tulsa Oklahoma.
