And the reason they were told to stay away is that they have no idea how to get them out because they never concieved the Taliban would take over so quickly because they are utterly incompetent.  Think about how many flights will be necessary to get 5,000 or more Americans out of there while the airport is surrounded by the Taliban who likely now have the ability to shoot down planes given all the military equipment they left behind and those they get from Iran and Russia.  Heck, I saw a video from Kabul where some Taliban idiot was pointing an RPG at some people being detained.  It's a freaking nightmare and will take a big military effort to undo with lots of casualties...all unnecessary.

And the military has already stated they are unprepared to go door to door to rescue Americans.  They have no way to safely to get to the airport if and when they can get them out.  I have seen messages from American citizens that are terrified because the Taliban is going door to door searching for them.  Your response made it sound like it was some grand plan to get them out in an orderly fashion.  Not even close......it's don't come to the airport because we have no idea how to get you out of there yet.  They were totally unprepared and are scrambling to get them out by sending back in thousands of U.S. troops.  It's a complete and utter debacle and the administration deserves not one iota of sympathy or support for what they have done.
