Stayed put in Wetumpka but my wife's parents made a trek over from Columbus, GA. Early this morning was cool so jeans were appropriate for last minute yard and patio clean up from last nights rain - but we quickly changed to shorts.

We decided to deviate from tradition a little this year....instead of turkey, I smoked a duck on the BGE with apple and maple wood chips and basted it with a butter/red wine mixture. My wife broke tradition as well with a venison sausage/apple/walnut stuffing instead of the cornbread dressing that I have had for 43 years and that we have had for our 20 years of marriage. Cranberry/pear sauce instead of just plain cranberry sauce. Green beans with roasted garlic instead of country grean beans. Sweet potato casserole - this was the only thing that was the usual fare.

For dessert, Mother in law brought a pumpkin roll with cream cheese and a pecan pie laced with whiskey and chocolate. YUM!!

Everything was great today. We especially liked the duck.

Hope everyone had a great and safe day. Even though Black Friday is starting several hours early for some, let's all remember the real reason for the upcoming season.
